Denial of NY Diplomas Fought

    Lauren Mercier started taking courses at Cayuga Community College two years ago, when she was 16. Her first course was in math, and she got an A. Since then, she has taken 11 more courses and has a 3.8 grade-point average. But the college, citing state regulations, says that as things stand it will be unable to give her a diploma.
