I am having a pre-kindergarten group of five come to my house once a week during the summer. Our first theme is going to be farms since there is one across the street that we could take a "field trip" to afterwards. I am looking for some cute short songs that I could teach them with some motions. Any ideas? It seems like I found some before but now can't re-locate them. All of these children are five and 4 of them will be in kindergarten this fall. I don't officially homeschool as I am a public school teacher but I always enjoyed the ideas on the abc site. I finally found this one. I have taught my son in themes since he was 3 and he loves it. I taught him to read before preschool so I guess I feel like a closet homeschooler even though he will go to ps. I think financially if I could , I would homeschool so that I could spend more time with my kids. ok, I am babbling. Thanks.
While I was a teacher's aide for preschool, we just did some old stand-bys like The Farmer in the Dell /Baa, Baa Black Sheep/ Oats, Peas, Beans, and Barley (or whatever the name of that song is ). I'm not sure about standard motions for any of these, but in our Sunday School we teach the kids sign language whenever possible as the motions for the music. They love it! And so does everyone else--it's precious and more importantly they are learning a second language 8) . If I think of anything else I'll let you know. Have fun!
I ran a search on LessonPlanz.com for farm... Take a look at these results. There are several with songs, plus other ideas you might be able to use: http://atozteacherstuff.com/go/search.cgi?query=farm&t=lessonplanz&bool=OR
