    I'm confused!
I went to a site today to try and determine exactly what Jeannie's learning style is.
Her, I think I've got, however some of the questions I couldn't apply to her.
Now myself, I either answered dishonestly or they just don't have their information right!
According to thier test I'm an auditory learner. I always thought I was a visual learner, but actually my husband fits that to a T.
What confused me was their list of attributes at the end of the test, 'If you are an auditory learner you should...', because I don't do any of those things.

Do any of you have a better place I might try?

And another thought- can we, without trying to , impose our learning style on our kids?

Where's the site at? I'd be interested in how they would place me. I KNOW i'm an auditory learner. I study best when I can do it aloud, and in college I could ace classes that tested over lectures and had a difficult time with those that ignored lectures and tested only on the book.

    Becky,
Give us the web address so we all can play :D
Most people fall into more than one learning style. Your little one is young and you'll notice more traits as she gets older.

Let me dig and see where it was. This computer is acting stupid today, so I might not get back here today with it.

I have a handout that I received from a Christian publisher at a convention. Wanna see it???? :D It gives examples of the styles, how to teach them, how to recognize them, and I think even how Jesus used these styles to teach! 8)

    Here's a site I recommend ...

    http://www.vark-learn.com/english/index.asp

From the home page, click on "questionnaire" and on the next page you will see near the top of the page in faint print "version for younger people."

Since Jeannie is only four, you may not be able to apply the questions to her. They ask about directions and instructions and she may have no frame of reference with some of them.

As for imposing our learning styles on our kids, I would consider it a great disadvantage to ONLY stimulate a child according to their particular style. When you show them another way, or a way that makes them think in a different pattern, it's good for them.

For example, if a kinesthetic learner is stimulated mostly by hands-on methods, what will they do when there are no counters, or calculators or unifix cubes, or whatever ??? If they always build with blocks or Lego or clay, what will happen when they are asked to draw a picture from their imagination given only word queues??

Kathe, at the site I went to, I used the way I've seen her react to answer some of the questions for her. Maybe that wasn't exactly correct, but I thought it would be cool especially if she reacts the same way to situations all the time, KWIM?

Oh I hear you, but if you thought the outcomes were messed up for each particular style, then try the site I posted. :D
