I have a lot of coloring books that my son either doesn't like or considers too childish for him. Does anyone have any ideas with regard to who would like them? Some are used, some are not. TIA:?:
Is there a children's hospital in your area? When we did foster care there was a playroom at Social Services where the kids spent time waiting for, or visiting with parents and other relatives. Coloring books were always in demand there. How about a local food bank where the kids have to wait while parents fill out forms. A daycare might like them or an afterschool program. Beth
I second the children's hospital idea. Having spent many many nights in the hospital with my son, I think thats what I would do with them. You might ask if they have a gift program and give the new ones to that and the used ones to the play room. * in the hospital my son went to they gave "gift bags" of stuff to the kids that were in the hospital around Christmas or Easter or just when they were there a LONG time. They also had a toy trunk that the kids could pick from after chemo treatments.
Great choice! That's an AWESOME hospital, BTW. My ds had surgery there when he was 4. Couldn't have asked for better care!
My DS was born at Vandy. I spent a week there, he was there a month. I was glad to see it in the rear window for good. lol
Or if the hospital is too far, perhaps the local doctor's office. You might want to donate crayons to go with it!
are you expecting any trick or treaters this year? you could get rid of them that way! otherwise i think the hospital and dr. wating rooms are great ideas, also your church may have a use for them. i used to belong to a church that drove a 15 passanger van full of kids the 2 hours from the city to the womens prision once a month to visit their mothers... i usually rode with them and coloring books, crayons etc were great for such a long drive
