This may sound like a crazy question, but does anyone remember Joni Erickson(I'm not sure if I spelled it right!). I had an album of hers back in the late 70's, early 80's that I would love to get my hands on, just not as an album! If I remember right she was paralyzed due to a swimming accident and went on to record this album. I grew up in the church and even though I maintain my faith I haven't been to church in many years. This was a gospel recording that I had really enjoyed. Sorry if this sounds rambly, she just happened to pop in my head and I was curious if anyone else even knew of the recording. Jennifer
She is Joni Eareckson Tada now and has done children's books, regular books, paintings, etc. I met her when I was a teenager and she is an amazing woman. A young woman in the city was just paralyzed in an accident and our pastor has been visiting her- and Pastor and I were just talking about Joni the other day! momandteacherx3
That must have been a real treat. I was in my late teens at the time and I remember her album being one of the first I bought for myself. I remember her being such an inspiration. Do you know if she has a website?
Jennifer, You don't sound crazy at all. Joni is now Joni Eareckson Tada. She spells Erickson different for some reason. She has a ministry that she works with and a new cd I think. You are right about her being injured in a diving accident. Try a search for her by typing in Joni Erickson and see if you find what you are looking for. Hope this is what you were looking for. I tried it and got several sites to look at about her. Beth
Duh, sometimes I just want to slap myself upside the head!!LOL! I forget how easy it is to search for things. I haven't found the title of the album but I did find that our library carries several of her books ( some are "lost") that I put a request in for. Thanks again for you gals help!
I've been thinking and thinking- I know one of the songs on the album was "Spirit Wings"- I don't know if that was the title song or not. Maybe a search for the name of the song will bring up the CD? I'll go look... momandteacherx3
She had out some childrens' music, too. We used to listen to it when the kids were young. "Wheels! I got wheels, they move me where I want to go!" She was just on Larry King last year. I have a recording of her interview. She also put out a book. I think it was titled The Laughter of God, but I didn't like it so well. Who knows, I might like it now, though. It was a long time ago.
Oh, we love her. I have a great CD she did for kids a few years ago. You should be able to find her at CBD.com.
MAN! I read her autobiography my Sr. year in High School. I remember CRYING for days after I read it. I was so effected I sent her a letter. I actually got what appeared to be a personally written letter back that was so genuine and filled with God's love. I'm sure SHE didn't write it, but I'm betting one of her staff did. Okay...so we're going back 20 years now. The original book - the one of her life story, how the accident happened (diving into shallow water), how she struggled, how she regained purpose and how God changed and used her - is amazing and life changing. I still pick it up every couple of years.
