I've lurked for a while, and finally joined, yay! I'm 39 years old, and a widow. My husband passed away in 2008. I have 3 stepdaughters who are all grown now with children of their own (I have 6 grandchildren), and 1 biological daughter who is just going into the eighth grade. This will be our first year homeschooling, I pulled her out of her middle school in May due to severe bullying. The school could/would do nothing to protect her and she was at her breaking point, so I decided I could do a better job since I actually love and care about her, unlike her school. I'm nervous, but excited; I've spent so much time on the internet researching, following links, and printing. I need more ink LOL!
Welcome~ Excited and nervous go hand in hand! I feel that way each new year of school and myoldest is about to be a Junior and youngest is a 2nd grader with two inbetween! lol I am glad for you and your dd.
Welcome! Our daughter will be in 8th next year too. She was starting to be bullied when she was in public school so we brought both of our younger girls home 5 years ago. The older one finished this year. Looking forward to August and 8th grade!
We're looking forward to starting. I started gathering just the basic curriculum, and then it slowly dawned on me that we can also add what we want. If she's interested, she can learn it. My mind started spinning with all the possibilities LOL.
Mine wants to do a real home ec program next year. We will be doing Young Living. I am really excited about that especially sewing. Then she tells me she wants to do more PE next year too. Uhhh okay. Did I mention I am 56 years old and totally out of shape! I really have to start looking into this one! I am thinking about bicycling as part of it.
Welcome! I am new, too, for fall with a dd in 9th and a ds in 3rd! Nervous, excited, eager, defensive, proud....yep, that's me!
We're going to do Home Ec in 9th grade, I think (no telling what could change between now then LOL). My mother has volunteered to teach the cooking part, as I am not very good at it. I'm totally out of shape too, so when we do PE, we'll be starting with just walking. I guess it will help me more than her!
Welcome! I agree with the wonderful part about being able to learn about anything you (they) want. I love it when my son (6) comes up to me with something he is interested in learning more about and asks if we can learn about it for school. My response is absolutely!
We have Today's Teen planned for 9th grade. I think Emily will like that. Walking sounds like a great way to start PE for us too. If it is super hot when we start we may do swimming first and save walking for cooler weather. It gets so hot and humid here in NC in August. I really am excited about school this year. We thought Em was going to choose to go back to public school and we agreed to let her if that is what she wanted. Then she said she wanted to stay home and I had to scramble to find what she would need. Well I felt like I had to scramble. I am feeling almost ready now and can breathe easier.
The heat and humidity is part of the problem here too. I'm in GA, and some days it's hard to even breathe!
