I've been thinking about selling. They seem to be pretty flexible. Their books are high quality yet not expensive. Wondering if it sells ok in this economy. Anybody have experience with it?

I used to a few years ago. While I really like the quality of the books and already had quite a personal collection going, it just wasn't for me. Truth is that I'm not a sales person. Just don't have the "courage" to approach people and get the bookings to host the parties and sell the books. Nothing against the company - just not a good fit personally. However, I know of others who make an excellent income with Usborne.
Wish you the best whatever you decide.

Sold for a bit! I'm with Claraskids! I LOVE the books and so did others. Quite a bit sold at the shows I had- it is a product that naturally sells. I wasn't very good at getting people to book shows! Without shows being booked, I couldn't sell! Then life got to busy and something had to give!

Do you get paid cash or just book credits? I looked into it but wasn't sureabout that part.

You keep a percentage in cash and send them the rest.

I sell Barefoot Books, which are a great compliment to Usborne. Usborne is mostly non-fiction, where Barefoot is mostly fiction with non-fiction intertwined in the stories. (For example, a book called "The Beeman" is a fictional story about a boy with a beekeeper grandfather, but the boy is learning about bees, hives, honey making, etc., and at the end you get a recipe and definitions and such.)

Barefoot Books are equal or slightly higher in binding quality, there are no sales quotas or territories, and everyone has the ability to make 50% profit right from the start if you choose to. (You start as low as 20% if you choose to go that route.)

I think all book sellers took a hit over the past few years, and although I can't speak for Usborne, I know Barefoot's ambassadors are starting to see sales increase again. You can run your business any way you want to. A lot of people just do it part time like home parties and stuff. I don't to that. I'm building a much bigger business, and I concentrate my time on conferences, schools, community events, and charitable fundraisers.

Anyway - I'll be glad to talk to you more if you're interested. I'm going out of town for the weekend, but I'll try to get online when I can. Just send me a pm, or you can email me at: barefootkidsstore at gmail dot com. My website is in my siggy.
