ok Ladies I need tons I mean tons of prayers, pixie dust and happy thoughts headed my way. At 1:30 Central time I go to the dentist and have fun. Ok its not fun. I am the worlds biggest chicken when it comes to dentist. you know everyone in life has something they don't like to do like drive or cross a bridge of any kind. Well mine is can you all guess? Ok I will tell you all the wonderful Dentist office. My wish is someday be strong walk in and walk out and say wow that wasn easy..... Don't know if it will ever happen. But, wishful thinking. So I am asking all you wonderful ladies to pray, pour pixie dust, happy thoughts or whatever you have extra my way today so I can get through this. I am so bad this morning I can't even think straight so please help me ladies. you all are so wonderful. Thanks alot.
Good luck girl.. I too absolutely HATE the dentist. I know I have a few cavities, I feel them when I drink something too cold.. but I'm chicken and don't want to go get them fixed... sigh.
I just saw this and even though it is late, you are still in my prayers. I go tomorrow for major work again to fix damage I have done from grinding my teeth at night. I will be taking my "happy pills" an hour before I go to help with the anxiety. I hope you had some to take! It really helps and since my dentist suggested it to me it has made my dental visits so much easier. Let us know how it went. Beth
Everyone thanks so much. It didn't go well at all. I had a panic attack. Wow! I don't know about this old lady.. My bp went really high I mean high 163/123 it was bad I can't believe it never had my bp that high in my life. Sign of getting old. Need alot of pulling to be done.... when I left the place they hand a bill for everything that needs to be done is going to cost me..... $8199 yes you read it right thats the money they want. WOW I need to go find some gold or something. LOL They are going to give me a happy pill if I decide to come back and do it. But, first need to go find some rich man to help me out. LOL Thanks so much for all the wonderful prayers and pixie dust... I know I am big chicken wow I am scared... I hope I can relax and take it easy for awhile. Also ladies don't wait as long as I did it will cost a arm and leg......
Wow Kris!! That is crazily expensive! I know in Michigan they have a state dental plan that goes along with medicaid. Some of my friends bring their kids there. Maybe Texas has something like that???? I'm sorry it went so badly. It's not good when your scared. I think that I would get a second opinion.
Is there a dental school nearby? Work can be done there for a lot less. And definately look into getting some happy pills for anxiety before you go next time.
Gads! For that amount you could pay a plane ticket to Thailand or Mexico and have it done there. I don't think I'll ever have dental work done in the USA again.
That is true! I didn't even think of that, going to Mexico that is. A retired friend of ours goes there every year. He was just there a couple weeks ago and was soooo excited to tell us he got all his dental work done for under $100 and he had alot done. That is an option.
Kris - I am in the same boat as you - a diagnosed phobia of the dentist and a tolerance against all "caine" painkillers (that my poor son inherited) so Novocaine does NOTHING but slighly number the top layer of whatever is worked on. As a result, the dentist is MISERY for me. Get yourself a GOOD dentist - they are out there and you may need to shop around. We had one dentist in MI tell us my ds had 19 cavaties (after having NONE just less than one year earlier) and I just didn't buy it. They said they would have to sedate him and all, and with my dentist history, I felt this would scar him for life. Plus it would be $1900. So we got the OK from ins. to try my hubby's dentist, and this guy rocked! No cavaties, just some softening in the back that they "sandblasted" then sealed to prevent any more cavaties. Only cost me $25. My new location, I went where my kids go for ortho, and they said I have a filling in the back that is killing a tooth and I need a crown, blah blah, and it would cost me $1800 out the door after ins. I told them they could do it if they knocked me out but they said they can't so I said NO GO. I hit the internet, found a sedation dentist and got a FREE consult from him. NOt only is the tooth not an issues (doesn't hurt or bother me at all) but I don't need a crown at all, and maybe need to replace a filling or two a few years down the road, and they can knock me out if necessary. WIN!! I booked my 6 month visit with him on the spot. GOod luck finding the dentist that works best for you.
