Are we the only ones here who haven't started school yet? Today the local kids went back to school and my boys are going stir-crazy. They need school. I'm hoping to start by September 20th (we finished last school year mid-July). I'm getting the whole year organized at once because when the school year starts I won't have time to plan. It is frustrating because we all want school to start. At the same time I do find some satisfaction hearing my son beg and plead for school to start. I'll have to remind him of that when he starts whining mid-year.
LOL! Actually, there is a family at my church who hasn't started back yet, either. They already know they'll use BJU for everything (always do), but they've just decided to take a little break (two 4th graders... different ages, a toddler, and a baby on the way - mom's tired).
We were supposed to start yesterday but my husband decided to paint the living room. That meant my dining room/school room was completely filled with everything from the living room. I am trying to put everything back together today and get back on track. I will start once I put everything back in order today.
We did "officially start" a week or so ago, but Ds's are only 3 and 2 and the only "constant" curriculum each day is Math and reading. lol I've got lots of other stuff "planned" but why get it out if their frustrated or resistant at this age? lol Now, after our new baby is born it will be different, but thats now it stands now.
We just started last wed, so officially we started back a week ago. We did take a four day weekend, lol, so we have only had 4 days of school so far. Public school has been back in school since Aug 12 here.
We're into our 3rd week, but now I've decided to scrap a big portion of our curriculum and switch to another. It'll be next week before I can order it, then likely another 1-2 weeks before it gets here. Until then, we'll be focusing on his "fun" subjects (French & Typing), starting cursive and memorizing math facts. So I guess we'll be late starting our regular school schedule.
It's good to know I'm not the only one. We moved 2 weeks ago and I am still looking for the rest of the curriculum, lol. Hope to be unpacked by this weekend. Looks like it will be Monday for our start.
Yesterday was our first official day, but we started out with a field trip to see an exhibit about dogs. So today is our first day of our curriculum and we are off to a slow start on a cold rainy day.
