I have decided that we need to go digital for curriculum for my oldest next year. She will be in 7th grade, and she's need more independent work instead of plain bookwork. I am looking at AO's new Monarch. It seems like it would fit the bill, and it is priced reasonably. Do any of you use and online curriculum? I have had people suggest Bob Jones, Abeka, Jubilee, Grace.... Any ideas, suggestions, disclaimers? Thanks!
I'm looking into Aleks for Jacob to use for math - I have a friend whose son is using it and loves it. They have a 30-day free trial if you do a search for the link..... otherwise it's only 5 days direct from their site.
I keep thinking about Monarch too. I wish I could learn more about it. I am wanting to know about electives especially for my 12th grader next year.
I find month long "teasers" annoying.... homeschoolers are too anxious a crowd in my humble, but often outspoken, opinion
yeah, and I think we tend to over load or confuse the kids when we do 30 trials they are not doing the same things as we have them doing then they look at me like what More work of the class I hate? lol so I stopped doing the trials lol, I want to learn more about Monarch too anyone got more info yet?
Stay away from Jubilee and Grace, Morningstar, and a very long list of others started by Mimi Rothschild.
i just got my AOP catalogue today and it said Monarch has over 30 electives and is for 3-12 gr. it is completely web-based and is available 24 hrs a day.Yay, flexibility! it's still a little pricey for me adn I don't think it would fit our slightly un-schooler philosophy, but it did look good for the family that enjoys learning like that.
oh cool mine should be here soon! do they show you the course choices? We are kind of leaning toward Unschooler with my third child we were discussing that fact today even lol. I am so laxed wiht him this year! But he is learning more this year than ever!
