Ok, I'm not one to join in on most political debates but this one has me very ANGRY!! Our Gov't is taking this one way too far. At first I thought "wow, this would be really nice for us". Since my husband has a pre-existing health condition and his job doesn't have health insurance for their employees the idea of not being excluded from health care plans sounded GREAT. BUT on the other side of the coin is the fact that EVERYONES health insurance premiums will go up including your employers part. And it will become SO expensive that they will not be able to carry you. Creating the need for you to go to the new Gov't insurance hence giving GOVENMENT more controll over you.. That may not sound bad to you right?? Well, did you know that included in this bill is t MANDATORY insurance??? You will be REQUIRED to have health care insurance and if you do not you will be fined. The fine at this point is $1800. It was $3000.. Not to mention the fact that Medicare coverage will be slashed and Medicaide insurance will be forced to spend even more money due to abortion being included in the "new" insurance.. This sort of thing is extreemely troubling to me.. If you want to read more on it or if you would like to hear about the bill from the radio show go to www.aclj.org

My dad told me that the president was pushing for mandated insurance and fines for those who do not comply. I didn't believe him. Then I heard, FOR THE FIRST TIME, the whole story of the new healthcare bill and he was right!! Sign the petition or call your senator we can NOT let the govenment get this controll over us. It seems to me that most people have not heard the whole story. I don't know about you, but I see more and more things lately that the government is sticking their nose into. Gov't insured home loans, gov't bail out plans, GOV'T MANDATORY insurance.. I see America changing quicker than we can even grasp. Socialist America is right on the verge of taking wing..

According to one commentator (writing for Fortune magazine), there's a financial incentive for employers to drop medical coverage for their employees, so watch for this to happen to millions of people.

Anything that cannot be made public and must remain under wraps must be viewed with suspicion.

I'm amazed it's taken you so long to hear this. This is NOTHING new!!! This is part of the reasons the "Tea Parties" and the anger at the Town Hall Meetings were happening back in August!!! Yes, you MUST have insurance. Yes, EVERYONE will be covered, even illegal aliens. Yes, it WILL cover abortions. Yes, it WILL put most private companies out of business.

In regards to pre-existing health conditions, there does need to be reform there and the conservatives also have been working on a bill that I am eager to read about: The Patients' Choice Act of 2009.

There is nothing that is going to please everyone, but I am all for more choice and making health care competitive.

Ok, I don't normally get into discussions about anything Political either but this one on Health Care Insurance is confusing to me. If people can not afford Health Care Ins. to start with like myself....what makes the Govt. think that I can afford a $1800 fine for not having Health Care Ins.? :x

But the government will be giving you and all the others that can't afford it "free" health care. There's plenty of people out there that CHOSE to not have health care. Some of them belong to one of those plans that "share" costs, others simply don't want it and are willing to pay outright. Others simply don't care. THESE are the people that are going to be forced into buying something they see no need for. Regardless, it will cost EVERYONE (except those that voted it into being, that is!) plenty!!!

I am sure the govt will find a way to squeeze that $$ from you. Perhaps garnish wages? They will find a way! Better off spending the $1800.00 toward medical insurance because either way you will have a gun to your head and forced to get the ins.

guess what else is in this bill, and those of you with kids in the public schools pay attention, it was in either section 25-11 or 11-25. all public schools will supply a health clinic and guess who get to run it?? come on guess!! i know you are thinking what, the state health dept right? or the school can choose a dr to come in locally, right?? nope!! the big winners in this bill which would be PLANNED PARENTHOOD. It will be in High schools, not sure about jr highs.

doesnt make me happy, and i have no dc in ps.

    Yes.

There are also provisions in the plan for illegal aliens to receive free healthcare.

Pat Toomey, who is running for Specter's position, pointed this out the imbicility in a debate I went to a few months ago. It went like this:

The idea behind premiums going down is based on all of the young healthy folks in the marketplace purchasing insurance. However, if you know that you can get insurance when you get sick and can't be denied, and it is cheaper to pay the penalty than buy insurance...why would you buy insurance? Unless, of course, you are stupid - that was me, not Toomey. This means premiums will increase.

I'm thoroughly ticked off about the attack on cadillac plans. We are part of a union, only b/c my dh works in the north east and must be union to get on many of the construction sites. About the only thing I like about the union is our health insurance. But it goes beyond persona applications: cadillac plans allow people to get frequent checkups for little OOP costs and to get the medical coverage Congress claims to want for everyone. So why are they trying to take it away from the people have it? I don't understand the logic there.
