Well dd decided go down in our little swampy area and get some frog eggs and tadpoles. They are now sitting in a jar on the front porch. She wants to watch them grow. What do do with them? Any good websites? I'm so swamped lately I don't have time to do a lot of research right now. I figured someone here could give us some good tips though!

hmmm.. no help. We have plans to go over to the pond in the cow pasture and catch some bullfrog tadpoles soon. We will put them in the kids little tiny kiddy pool . I haven't researched yet what they may eat or what they may need other than some water.

Thanks ladies! We bought dd a frog planet Christmas before last but never ordered the tadpoles because we were moving. When we moved in here last May we discovered a small marshy spot outside our back door in the woods. I told dd we'd just get our tadpoles from there lol. Oh we have tadpoles in the jar as well-along with mosquito larvae- lovely! Dd told me to not worry about the mosquito larvae because the tadpoles will eat them when they are big enough. I didn't even think of that lol. But I think they'll turn into nasty skeeters long before the tadpoles are big enough to eat them!

great link! OKay so I need a bigger container for them. Wondering if our well water would be okay. It's not chlorinated. Worried about the sulfur though. Hmmmmm

This will be fun. I'm going to call her teacher on Monday and see if she can bring some in for the class. They'd love that I bet!

    That link is GREAT!!

We are gonna go over to the pond this week and see what's going on. I think we will have to drive.. I don't think my waddling butt would make it to the pond and back (we have to go down from our yard around the pasture fence and back up the hill to get to the pond.. then go back down the hill around the fence and back up our steep hill..yeah NOT happening right now )

when we had tadpoles last year we just kept them in a big mason jar, we put a drop of that stuff you buy for fish, it was at walmart, it was only $2, i think its called start right, it said it was a water conditioner that took out chlorine. we fed them fish food, and just changed the water weekly. once they had their legs we let them go, but the kids had a blast watching them grow!
