    LOL! I doubt that Jackie!

I think mine are used to intense heat and humidity.

Trust me they both know how to fuss!

Same here. We have to have cooling on. :)
Kids dont know any different...and dont care. They will happily go out & play in the morning or late in the afternoon.
They will play in & out...

I should clarify that they don't play out much in the dead heat of the day - like between noon and 3 unless there is water involved. But in the morning and later in the afternoon they live outside and don't come in until they are called for dinner. We spend most afternoons at the pool to keep cool.

I never lived with ac until I was about 16 years old, when my parents finally got it. Realistically, being in WI, the ac is only on for a couple months out of the year. Even then, it's not even consistant. The weather here is so unpredictable that one day it could be 60, and the next it could be 90. I turn it on when it gets extremely humid. I try everything in my power to not have to turn it on because I really just prefer the breeze of the fresh air through my windows than feeling all bundled up inside a closed house. But, some days get really bad where it's needed, esp. with the humidity. Around July and August is when it's worst. Other than that, our ac rarely gets turned on because outside of those months it's not needed.

My mom didn't like the heat so the doors and windows were always closed 24/7 and the a/c cranked up to bbbrrr! She kept it so cold in the house.

I would close my bedroom door and open my window at night to "Let some heat in"!

Funny too is that my parents would not swim in a cool pool. They liked our pool very warm.

I think one reason my mom like the house frigid is because she was having hot flashes. She never admitted they were hot flashes she would always say, "I know I shouldn't eat potatoes and onions, it makes me get hot every time". Ya right mom, I believed that one.

So do I. We have summer and winter here. Actually fall does come in for a week or two then winter hits.

I went to pick up my niece and it was 117 at her house. I thought it was hot here at 109. By Wednesday we are supposed to hit 115. I guess this means it will be 120 at her house. She is about 25 minutes to 30 minutes away but there is a big difference in our weather. Where she lives they do not have really cold winters. I just think it is so interesting how the weather changes from city to city.

Yah I agree most kids dont mind being outside playing ect..even in the most hottest days but you really got to watch them that they don't get heat exhaustion especially during the hottest part of the day around 2pm? Kids just don't know any better.

We even give our rabbits icecold water bottles during this time so they can lean against it.

We are hoping to get some windpower here in the next couple of years. Cost around $11,000 to put one in and it will take 5yrs for it to pay for itself. If we get a bonus next year again we might consider it. We got so much wind out here it feels wasted not to use it. Any power left over the power company will buy it from us.

I have a 2 gallon thermos we bought while camping a while back. If the kids are going to be outside, I'll fill it with ice and water and set it out. I will put plastic cups with their names on them in a tub next to it, so they won't blow away when empty. That way, I won't have them going in and out of my house all the time, lol!

If it's over 80 and humid I can't even send dd outside because she gets heat exhaustion- she's had it 3 times the past 2 years. The last time she had it it wasn't even 80 out but very humid that day.

In VA we spent a LOT of time inside during the summer. Was thinking we'd be able to be outside more here but the climate seems to be much the same the past 2 weeks! They say the humidity is supposed to drop the next few days so it will be nice to get outside.

I have two window units now so we are all happy campers lol. And I don't care if my electric bill is 200 next month. At least I'm not miserable and not blowing hot air around with fans. THAT seems like a waste of electricity to me lol.

    That is a fantastic idea!

We recently aquired a second fridge and we put it in the garage. We keep water bottles, gatorade, juice boxes, watermelon slices and ice pops in it. That way when the kiddos are outside and it is hot they can grab something from there instead of coming in and out.

My parents and one of my sisters live in Florida, and they're always asking when we're going to move. Um, never...I get SO cranky when it's hot. July and August are my least favorite months (despite a family reunion and my and DH's birthdays occurring then!)...I can't imagine going through them without A/C!

When we were growing up here in GA, my mom wouldn't turn on the a/c unless it was over 90 degrees out. It could be 89 with 100% humidity and she wouldn't budge. I can remember lying under the attic fan, spraying water on my self to cool down.

We keep our a/c set to 76. The kids still play outside most days, but I restrict them to the early morning or early evening hours because our air quality is bad in the summertime. We actually spend more time outdoors in the middle of winter than we do in the summer because our winters are pretty mild.

But my favorite time of year is fall, then spring, when we can have the windows open. We use our attic fan as late into the season as we can. But once temps hit 80 or above, I'm turning on my a/c. It makes for a high electric bill, but we keep our thermostat pretty low in the winter, so it all equals out. Summer brings us our highest utility bills.

My dad installed a windmill last year or early this year. HE LOVES IT!!!! He said it is worth every penny. They live on the top of a hill on 40 acres in Arizona. So the wind blows past them often and now he is putting it to use. :D
