I swear, I don't know what's wrong with me this year. I've been sick off & on since the beginning of the year. It was REALLY bad in January.

Every time I go to the doctor, they tell me it's a virus & send me home. I went 3 times when I was sick in January... the 4th time he FINALLY gave me antibiotics because the infection had gotten into my ears and I was going deaf (he said I had a slight ear infection -- yeah okay).... but still said my other symptoms were from a virus (I was MUCH better within 24 hrs, though, on the antibiotics).

So, since then when I've been sick.... I'll go to the dr, he'll tell me it's a virus & send me home. If it's not better in a few days, I go to another dr, who tells me the same thing... and I'm sick for weeks on end!

Like now --- I went to the dr almost 2 months ago -- it's a virus. Okay... so over a couple weeks time, it gets better, but never goes away, comes back, gets a little better, comes back, etc etc etc.

I know darn well if I go to the Dr again today, it's going to be another $25 wasted --- even though my throat's killing me & I'm blowing brown stuff out of my nose.

UGH!! I just don't get it. I hardly go anywhere.... I take lots of Vit C, Zinc, Echinecea..... but I just can't shake this crap this year for some reason.

Okay, I'm done griping now.... so how's everyone else's week going?

Sorry you haven't been well.

This might sound a bit nutty but it works for us.

I use rubbing alcohol on all the door knobs, keys and I even wash off the milk jug. You never know what germs are lingering around. I figure the person stocking the milk probably had dirty paws so I don't want those germs being spread throughout my kitchen and house.

Are you making sure the doctors know the history of this? That you've been having constant troubles? If anti-biotics helped and the sickness seems to be mostly sinus related you may have a sinus infection and if that's the case you need to go back, share that concern and get some anti-biotics.

    Things to think about...

Been there. Done that. I feel for you. HUGS!!

    Things to think about...

Our allergies change about every 7 years. Things we weren't used to before, we can become allergic to causing similar symptoms as you explained.

Also, chronic sinus infections can LINGER. They want me to have my nose fixed by a ENT dr. Scary. Haven't done it. If you get better on antibiotics, I would say, talk to your dr explaining that you want to do a double dose of antibiotics (2 prescriptions vs the length of 1). Sometimes this can wipe out a bad sinus infection that hangs on. I swear one year I was ON anti-biotics more than I wasn't. :(

Also, definitely check your house for things that might be contributing to your feeling yucky. Have your carpets steam cleaned. Put plastic allergy covers on your mattresses. Take your bed pillows and put them in the dryer on HIGH HEAT for at least 20 minutes to kill all the dust mites that accumulate there. Don't have to throw out the pillows this way. Otherwise, if it is easier for you, buy new pillows.

Does your house have any unfinished drywall? My dh and I have talked about having our ductwork cleaned out because we get tons of dust (I think from the basement that we're refinishing. There is something you can install to zap the dust that is in the ductwork (expensive though) so it doesn't blow out into the air. If I think of something else, I will pass it on.

I completely understand how it can just be exhausting when you continue to feel like poo. Keep me posted. I'll be thinking of you.

Be careful about being on two antibiotics cures at once if you are sensitive to any kind of medication. I was put on one of those 2-for-1 cures and now I am allergic to Apocillin (the most commonly used penicillin brand here). Scary, as my throat started itching and contracting...

I'm sorry I didn't explain myself very well. What I meant was to take 1 antibiotic but take it twice as long as normal. Example: Taking amoxicillin everyday twice a day for 7 days would be take amoxicillin everyday twice a day for 14 days. Extending the length of time you take it, not doubling up on doses or 2 kinds. Does that make more sense? Sorry about the confusion. Obviously - you wouldn't do ANY of this w/out the approval of your family physician. Best of luck. :)

I agree with the others have the house check its something in there or it's your sinus I have had that for years they want to drill mine out, don't think so but it does make you poo.

But, first start with all the things they told you do with the house, the cleaning and all and you will start feeling better.

I don't know where you live but the pollen might be high run your a/c as much as you can.
