Blind obedience? Yeah, I'll take that. Maybe I can even get my husband under the spell.

I went through something similar with dd when I was on the phone yesterday- although dh isn't home so I didn't have that part of it lol. I will have to say though, be careful what you say to your dh in front of your dd. Kids totally catch onto those things and will play on that- course you probably already know that!

Yesterday I was on the phone- about an hour before dinner. Dd comes to me and asks for a bagel, I told her no, dinner was soon. She went and got a bagel anyway, proceded to spread cream cheese on it, the whole 9 yards. Now you may ask why I didn't get off the phone and stop her. Well she already KNEW she was in trouble.
I got off the phone, didn't say a word, went and got laundry out of the dryer and heard the trash bin close. I said "I sure hope that wasn't your bagel" ANd she LIED, told me it wasn't. Low and behold there in the trash bin was the other half of the bagel.
So guess what she got for dinner last night? Teaspoon of hotsauce for lying, and the rest of that bagel that she insisted on getting after I told her no. THere was no tv, no computer- which meant she wasn't able to check for email from daddy. And I had lasagna.
Hopefully she's learned her lesson. Knowing dh he probably would have spanked her for the whole situation. She's really been pushing some buttons since he's been gone which really sucks because I hate having to be the bad guy when daddy is gone. Makes him look good when he gets home!

Okay I didn't even read this reply lol. But are you serious? My daughter is actually back in public school- we homeschooled till we moved here and I've actually found QUITE the opposite in the past month. The school is very open to each individual, they don't send notes home for misbehavior, they aren't constantly disciplined or their spirits broken. Then again it is a very small town- only 15 per class, and they encourage every child to be an individual- arts are a big deal, helping in the community is huge.

But to say don't make your child obey, that's about the craziest thing I've ever heard.

Both dh and I went through school and neither of us believes what's on the news. Then again he's in the military, he knows more of the truth lol. I personally was raised with an iron fist but I'm the last to follow what my parents wanted for me. They didn't crush my spirit for sure.

And teaching your child to listen and obey isn't crushing their spirit. It's teaching them boundaries and respect.

I was thinking the same thing.

But then I read on a different topic that this person is a 17 year old unschooler.

Totally makes sense why a 17 year old male would have such foolish ideas when it comes to raising children. Because he is still one.

Oh well that explains it LOL!

Yeah, umm if I let dd do what she wanted the house would be destroyed and my animals would be hanging from the rafters. I choose to hang her from the rafters instead:lol:

    A friend told me once:

"I have complete and udder control over every aspect of my children's lives"!

I told her if she honestly thought that, she was crazy. You can teach your kids right from wrong but you can't control their every move unless you become their warden.

Me thinks my hubby and your boy is related.....just this morning, I said "Oh good you are up, so I can make the bed early...." Mr smarty pant's response..."the bed is already made, you dont have to make a new one.....:p" He tells me that.......every....single.....time.......{sigh}....he really needs a new line !LOL!

(get it?? like make a WHOLE bed ? when I was talking about fixing the sheets, but if I would have said "fixing the sheets" his response would have been...."why are the sheets BROKE?)......I figured out a LONG time ago that I just cannot win with that man! LOL!
