My neighbors dog bit me on the stomach! I didn't even know what happened, I was in her house and her dog ran in, bit me, bit her, then ran out. I just felt something painful on my side, I thought her dog had jumped onto me and the claw got me. Then I looked down at my shirt after I fought back tears and saw that my shirt was wet. She called me later and asked if I was going to sue her...umm....no, but if I do have to go to the doctor she'll be paying atleast half.

I'm just thankful that it wasn't one of the kids, and that I have a nice thick layer of fat that protects me and the baby.

Oh my goodness! I would go to the doctor anyway and make sure things are okay with the baby, and that the doctor knows. For a family pet to bite their owner is generally a big deal, and you'll want to know if the dog was sick with anything that might be passed on! And yes, absolutely make them pay for the visit and any resulting expenses!

Glad you are okay! SO let me get this straight:

dog ran in and bit you
    dog bit her

    unprovoked
    then dog ran out.

She needs to get rid of the dog or have it put down.

I'm in agreement with Kim on this one. My dog would never do that and if he did it would be time to get rid of him.

Codi I'm glad you are okay and it isnt more serious.

Wow, how crazy is that?! I agree with getting yourself checked out just to be safe, and also getting the dog checked out! Why on earth would the dog do that?

I still have no clue why the dog did it. The only thing I can think of is the owner was feeding the other dog leftovers, but not this dog, so maybe he got mad?? But, why me? Why her? Why not the kids (luckily)?

I hated when she called, I know it was nice of her, but she said the typical thing of, "oh, we don't want to put him down, blah blah. He's just protective, etc. He only does that to boys, but we got him fixed." I thought if he only does it to boys, I'd be getting rid of that dog because she has two boys also! When she said the protective part, that made me mad because I was not being threatening in ANY way, I didn't even know what happened to me at first, that's how "threatening" I was.

Kim, you're right, that's how it happened. She was giving them both water at that point, I don't think she gave the biting dog any of our leftover lunch. That's the only reason I can think of.

OMgoodness! I hope you're ok! What if it had been were one of your kids or her kids!

What kind of dog is it? I know that doesn't really matter. But I am assuming it was a big dog. I also wonder if it's ever done that before to anyone. Seems odd.

Oh yeah, that's the other thing I forgot to mention. It's a lab. Labs are awesome dogs, they've always been so nice and just want to love you, kwim?

Okay that is odd that a lab did that. Most labs are very gentle and loving.

I agree that you should make sure the dr. checks it out. The bacteria in a dog bite can cause some nasty infections, and I'd be concerned about its erratic behavior.
Is there any possibility of rabies? You don't want to let this go.

    Hope everything turns out alright.
