That is awesome, Good for you! Have you tried making your sweet tea with Splenda instead of refined sugar? It has less calories and is better for you overall. Plus it tastes the same to me. (although I don't know about sweet tea, cause I like mine plain! =]) I have a 4 mo old baby and have lbs to lose. It is not easy. It's nice to hear that there are others working at it too! I am trying to exercise, but I really hate to, so I don't do it as often as I should. I miss going to class at our gym (we moved out of state). Do you know anyone you can work out with? A workout partner makes the time pass more quickly! Good luck and keep us updated!
Unfortunately, I *don't* know anyone to work out with, don't know anything about working out, and would have a hard time getting out of the house by myself on a regular basis. LOL So, that is out, but we hope/plan to start having a family physical fun activity every week. And yes, I'd be fine with Splenda. It's expensive, but also, my dh drinks quite a bit of the tea himself and he really doesn't like it. I've even tried sneaking in that half sugar-half splenda in the tea without telling him, and he can taste it. I've even tried making a 1/2 gallon of sweet and a 1/2 gallon of unsweet (he claims that he doesn't care which), but the unsweet goes undrank. Maybe I could try 1/2 gallon with real sugar and a 1/2 gallon with Splenda? LOL You're right, though! That's one place I could cut back easily.... Someone on another board (because people were asking for "sweet tea recipes") mentioned that they use less sugar because she adds a packet of flavored tea when she mixes it, so that's an idea too. Thanks, everyone, for all your congrats and encouragement! I look forward to being able to report some weight loss here regularly.
Woo hoO!! Nothing like success stories to get you motivated. I have a two year old, --- and a 15, 12 and 10 year old from my prev. marriage. I never got all of the baby weight off. My husband has been very patient (today's my 4th anniversary!!) and I want to get back to where I was when we met. We've joined the YMCA. WOW. What a great place for the family. It will truly become our new stomping grounds. THe kids love to work out, and the baby likes the "kid zone" where he plays while we exercize. There's truly something for everyone! I'd encourage anyone interested in getting exercise and/but needing activities for the kids, to check out the Y. I've lost 5 lbs, already. Yay!! We can do it!!
My hubby likes unsweet tea...so do I....but I would try the half sugar half splenda and see if your hubby can tell the difference. Splenda is the closest to sugar (oh...and buy it at Walmart - it's a TON cheaper there - and they also have a knock off that is exactly the same - as per my mom who buys splenda knockoff like it's going out of style!). Coke, coke. I wish it made me feel sicker. I have to say, honestly, I feel sick until I have some coke! LOL I know, I know. Excuses, excuses. Well, it IS and addiction. Okay...so...i put on my first pair of capri's for the season today - and the ones that were well fitted (not tight, but not loose) are FALLING OFF MY HIPS and look positively HUGE on me! LOL Feels good when your "skinny" pants are too big! Bet I'd be able to fit into my "Dream the Impossible Dream" Shorts (a pair I've held onto since early marriage to get back to).
Pam - We filled out the application for financial assistance for the Y. There's a place to put on there what YOU think you can pay each month, and when our application was processed, what we put in that blank is exactly what our monthly cost ended up being. Now, they did a few things and screwed us around to where we ended up owing more by joining than we'd have owed to just pay full-price for the class the kids were taking (which was, of course, the reason we were joining, was to get the discount), and so we ended up cancelling all of it and not joining... but, they worked with us up until the very last moment and I was pleased that they'd let us decide what we could pay for membership. But, around here, the Rec center is FREE, and the classes are about 1/3 of the cost (and sometimes those are free, too), and so that's probably what we'll end up doing instead of the Y. Plus, it's tons closer!!
We filled out the financial assistance form, too. We weren't given the option to put what we thought we could pay. We were offered a $7 a month discount. Ummmm... $73 isn't much better than $80. I'm going to have to check into a rec center.
 Bummer, babe! BTW, re-reading the title of the thread... just thought I'd add: But, I'm still bossy!!
