I FOUND IT!!! Someone was discussing American Girl books, and I found my Felicity Study Guide! If anyone is interested in it, let me know! (I thought I had gotten rid of it, but it turned up today!)

We won't have time to work on a study right now, but my daughter is currently reading the Felicity and Elizabeth books and it triggered her interest in the colonial period. We've read "if you lived in the time of the American Revolution", "Benjamin Franklin" and I just ordered "if you lived in Williamsburg..."

Can you tell us about some of the activities that are included in the study?

My daughter got Kit for Christmas and read all of the Kit books. She was very interested in the depression period. I found some resources regarding the depression period on Homeschoolshare and we had fun reading/discussing those.

This series makes me wish I had daughters. It's a fabulous tool, but my boys would never be the slightest bit interested. Now if someone would start and American Boy line, they'd get all of our money ;)

Staying6, send me a PM with your address.

The activities really aren't activities, but questions to go with the books. There's a page to answer before reading each book, one for "during", and one for "after". Plus, there's questions for the "Looking Back" section at the end of each book. There are some "Hands On History" stuff in the back, like taping an interview with Felicity or giving a tour of Williamsburg. A map is included, but I lost it. (Sorry, Staying6!)

I am using it now and we love it. We are using it as historical fiction. We are stduying the American Revolution. I got it from the library.

    Amie,

You might check out My Name is America. It's the "boy series" related to the Dear America books (from Scholastic). My daughter has read a few of them and enjoyed them. They are written in diary form. She's read all the My America books plus LOTS of the Dear America books (and Royal Diaries too)....but the My Name is America is technically the boyish line.

You can also take virtual tours of W'burg from their website I think...if that's of interest.

We just spent 3 days there....yippee....off to Jamestown Settlement tomorrow...Yorktown on Thursday!! Gotta love their home educator days.

Rhonda, wish I could go with you! That sounds like so much fun! I've been to Williamsburg, but not to Jamestown or Yorktown. But I HAVE been to Fort Louisbourg!

Haven't been there. I think I'm probably enjoying playing tourist more than the kids. My oldest loves history so she's enjoying it. She's been studying early American history and has pretty much stalled at Colonial times because she has such an interest (plus we added a VA history curric since we live here now....until the Army decides differently).

This is the first time that W'burg, Jamestown, and Yorktown have their Home Educator days coordinated to intersect........that will be such a blessing for those traveling a further difference. We're seeing all 3 for less than $20 a person and my son gets in FREE to W'burg. W'burg is a 5 consec day ticket for $11 each (kids under 6 free). Yorktown/Jamestown Settlement is a combo ticket for $10.25 per person for UNLIMITED visits between Feb 21-March 4th with included family tours and educational classes (if desired all for the $10 ticket price).

Even got DH a ticket to all of them for weekend visits if we want. Just to tell you how wonderful the Jamestown/Yorktown Foundation booking folks are....they called me because I only pre-registered for the 2 hour family tours at each site and not the classes. I opted to wait until next year when the girls would be together (3-6th grade) and could go together while I went with DS....this year my oldest would have to go without an adult while I went with the younger 2. I wasn't comfortable with this since I've never stepped foot in the place (she would have probably been fine). The lady just wanted to make sure that I knew it was included in the ticket if I wanted it. She didn't have to call...many folks would have just typed it in and sent me the confirmation. I really appreciated that she wanted my kids to get all the benefits possible.

If anyone is looking for a good long distance field trip....they all do this twice a year and will hopefully coordinate it again in the fall.

Where did you get it from? And can you get them for other AMG books?

I'm not sure where she found this one. I know there is a unit study (full year I think) called Portraits of an American Girl that studies American History using all the books (excluding 1970s Julie since she's new I assume).

Last time I checked it was about $50 new....I opted not to use it since one daughter has read most of them and the other dislikes history and isn't quite ready to read them yet.
