Thank you all SO much! What an amazing response. I plan on checking them all out when I have the time. I hope to use several of these sites for resources in the future.

    You ladies ROCK!

Rainbow Resource does have decent prices.

I buy from several places...Barnes and Noble, Borders, from the publishers, e-bay.

Now, Ebay is iffy. I have had no problems buying on ebay but some have. So, be careful if you go that route. I have got some good stuff though.

OK, I thought we were just replying where we got our SOS stuff....but others have told places for all their supplies....so, in addition to Rainbow Resources,

we've used: CBD, ebay, a local HS store, Barnes & Noble, Borders, and the 3 local teacher stores....oh, and Sonlight (where I dropped a wad for Core 3:lol:).

I purchased a lot from Ebay until they stopped allowing the sale of teacher' guides. I stopped using them for a while but Ems reads so much that it was cheaper to buy books for her from Ebay than it was to buy new. I have also found many great books for sale through the library.

I usually buy my Alpha/Omega stuff right from the company - I try to buy during conventions when they offer 20% off and free shipping. A few of the one ones already mentioned offer good prices, but I'm so afraid of ordering and then getting cheated!!! EEEK.

For my son, I bought First Language Lessons from Amazon. I ordered the Math U See on ebay, I saved SOME money but not a lot. Bible, we bought direct from Nest Family Videos. We have the old and new testament. I think this year we're going to purchase the historical figures ones, they look so neat and they come with workbooks, so there's ways to drive it home. I got his History/Geo from A/O too.

I do his handwriting using the print your own section of www.handwritingforkids.com so it is free! :D (well, unless you send a donation which I try to do once a year to make sure it stays free!).

    :)

We get ours from the curriculum fair we have in May here in San Antonio Texas. Its usually on sale and if they dont have it they will mail it to you for free. Its nice to look at it before you buy it. We save up for this day every year.

Rhonda....see at the end of Krista's quote it shows [ quote ] It needs to be [ /quote ] only without the spaces. I had to put the spaces in so it wouldn't quote! ;)

okay dh checked out amazon.com and cbd to see who has it at the best price including any deals on shipping, and then checks wiht the discounts at AOP and then orders from one of those.

This year we looked at tons of locations and bought most through CBD or AMazon a few from homeschool classifieds and Ebay as well!

JUst make sure you get the R2 disc with any used ones you order because that is the start up disk.
It sets you up for everything.

R.O.C.K. Solid, for everything (switched-on), plus a little Amazon.com, and YWAM for some great history biographies. Doorposts has great discipleship resources that we use constantly Training Hearts and Minds is the current selection.

If you want used stuff, Veg-source has some great used stuff, and so does ebay.

I like the Nestfamily videos for Bible and History. I used to be a consultant, and I love their stuff.

    www.nestfamily.com

    The Devine videos
    http://www.devine-ent.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=55&Itemid=75

are very enjoyable dramas about historical figures, artists, inventors and musicians, and they also have teacher's guides, which offer a unit-study type curriculum. we use them here.

We use all of this stuff. I've been homeschooling off and on, now a total of 5 years. I've varied from A Beka, SOS, lifepacs, and eclectic stuff, and use a little of each (though no Abeka right now) You have to find what's best for your kids.

We just started the Chronicles of Narnia Audio series by focus on the family radio theater, today. There's a study guide for it by Christin Ditchfield http://www.amazon.com/Family-Guide-...d_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1201208826&sr=8-1

that seems very thorough. we're giving it a try for literature.

I'm not trying to be a walking advertisement, but this is the stuff we use. Maybe it will be interesting.

Yep. I just figured that out this evening before I popped over here to see this threads activity. Slowly learning the tricks to forums (this is my first one other than Sonlight and I never tried to do anything "fancy" there and haven't visited there much since joining here.

    Thanks, Rhonda

I "second" the YWAM biographies. DD9 read the one on George Washington Carver that she bought at a local Christian bookstore. For a child who dislikes Science but loves biographies, this was a super book to spark both subjects.

For Christmas, I got her the YWAM books (Heroes of History series) on Laura Ingalls Wilder and Clara Barton. I wanted to buy them all but although she loves books, I think she wanted a few other items under the tree

I ordered mine thru CBD because I had a coupon and had other things to purchase there but would have ordered them straight from YWAM normally (we support friends who are YWAM missionaries....a great ministry if you aren't familiar with them).
