Ok.. you ladies have some awesome powers.. and I need to thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!! Last night Garrett had his first ever sleep over! A boy from scouts that he was in school with when he went to ps came to spend the night. I was terrified!! Given the way Garrett has been lately I expected a disaster to say the least. Amazingly enough just the opposite happened!!! We played Monopoly.. Garrett proved that he is actually learning his math!!! I would make both boys figure out things.. like how much to pay for water works' rent or how much you get if you collect your $200 but have to pay rent for Baltic Ave. Garrett would spit out the answers quicker than I could snap my fingers, his friend "C" would have to sit and figure it out!! I was sooo proud, I'm sure I was beaming from ear to ear!!! Then this morning (because to us manners and morals are more important than anything he can learn from a book this makes me want to shout from the roof tops!!) C asked for his candy.. but he didn't really ask! He had brought some chocolate "gold coins" for Garrett and himself. We had taken them last night and told them "no chocolate before bed". This morning C says "Where's my gold??? I want my candy." He wasn't being outrightly obnoxious.. it sounds that way when it's typed out, but he was being more silly I think than he was purposely being rude. Anyway after a while of him "asking" this way and me not giving it up Garrett says "Maybe you should try asking nicely... say 'May I please have my chocolate coins.'" I was most definately wide eyed!!! C did ask nicely and they did get the candy.. I was so in awe of Garrett stepping up to the plate! HE CAN BE A GOOD BOY!!!! So anyway.. thanks for all the prayers to help me out of my dark spot. You all helped for that to happen.. Garrett showed me I haven't really failed as a parent!!! I'm also in a better mood! Christmas starts for us tomarrow.. we celebrate Christmas at my mom's on Christmas Eve.. so there will be presents and a meal and all the hoopla.. I'm getting very excited for it to be here!
There certainly is power in prayer! Glad things are looking up for you, and I will continue to pray for God to open doors for you to help your son. Merry CHRISTmas, Sommer!
Isn't it hard when you KNOW you've got good kids but sometimes they don't let it show when we are around them so much??? My kids get to me sometimes and I swear they are terrible but we go out in public and they are great.
Sommer, I'm glad he had such a good day! Amy, I hear you girl!! One thing I realized is that if they are behaving in public I must have done something right! When all 4 of my kiddos were under the same roof it got interesting!
Sommer, I am so happy for you all. I hope and pray everything gets better for you all soon. Way to go Garrett, make them proud, boy..
Yeaaaaaaaaa!! That is so awesome!! I am so glad that things went well and that you feel happy!!
