My DD Sammie and I were working on making dessert last night. We made an awesome candy bar that tastes a lot like a Baby Ruth candy bar:p

    2 cups chocolate chips
    1 cup honey
    1 cup peanutbutter
    2 cups peanuts

Put peanuts into a ziplock back and wack a few times with a rolling pin. Melt 2 cups chocolate chips in the microwave for 1 minute. (they shouln't be totally melted) stirr in honey. Microwave for 1 more minute. Stir in Peanutbutter. When smooth add peanuts. Place foil on a 10X13 Jelly roll pan and spray with PAM. Spread out with a spatula sprayed with PAM. Refrigerate until set and cut into bars.

I've got to go get the ingredients for those yummy sounding breads, so I might as well get peanuts while I'm there...lol. These sound good.

 Seriously? Or was that a joke? What I wouldn't give to have him do all the shopping once in awhile. Not always, just every so often.

My wonderful dh will come with me, but if he goes grocery shopping without me, I better have every last little ingredient I need on a list for him. Of course, he'll bring home a goodie that wasn't on the list, but completely forget we needed milk, if I don't write it down.:lol: I can't complain, though, because at least he'll go if I ask him to!;)

Btw, that recipe sounds really good!

That sounds good. I will have to try it.

If my husband shopped for grocery every week. My bill would be sky high.

I have a fear of driving. Thats why he goes to the store. He calls me about 3 times each shopping trip.

"honey did you mean yellow or red or green onion?"
"honey they are out of cream of potato soup... what should I get?"
etc....... But I do forget stuff and I try to make do if we can. But my medicines are at Safeway and I can always have him pick something up with my meds.-- Hubby does a pretty good job and depending on what kid goes depends on what kind of cereal, cookie and goodies etc...........and you know how that very small occasion if you have an argument some guys will get you flowers......... I get a cookbook instead. LOL

also I make the weeks menu including one extra meal if I can (for variety) and all the breakfasts, snacks, desserts and lunches on the menu, so that makes me remember stuff, plus in the week I keep a running tab of what we run out of (this week it was salt and mustard)
I put an abreviated dinner menu on the back of the grocery list, incase I forget something.

Wow, what a sweet dh to do that for you!:D I love the system you got going on, too!

A cookbook! At least it's something useful! Flowers are pretty...until they die. I don't like flowers, can you tell?;) Only if they are planted, but none of this stemmed flowers dipped in water. I think they are absolutely gorgeous, but I just can't digest wasting money like that to inevitably dying flowers. Give me flowers in some dirt and I'm happy!

I love tulips! He's a good man to bring home flowers you can smile at longer than a week or two, provided you have a green thumb!:D;)

You could suggest to him that he could make up for this year with double next year.;)

I finally got around to making these.. today. They are still in my fridge getting cold. The only thing I would say so far is that I had to reheat the chocolate once I added the PB and honey. I couldn't stir it. It cooled too quickly, I guess. But that has nothing to do with the recipe. And it was an easy fix.

I'll let you all know what I think once they are cool enough to cut. And more importantly, eat :)

I finally ate a bite. And that's as far as I got. Wow these are rich. I think I might half the honey next time. It sort of overpowers the PB. But my boys devoured them! I'd say this is definitely a winner.

For some reason they just taste better the next day and I don't think I had the entire amount of honey in my jar so maybe you are right about that. I was a table spoon or 2 short.

Well that was just strange. I had one a few minutes ago, and you were right, they are MUCH better the second day. They weren't nearly as sweet and the honey didn't overpower as much. Don't get me wrong, they are still dang rich, but I could actually eat more than a bite today. I think I'll still cut the honey back a bit, but not as much as I thought I would yesterday.

I'll say it again, though, this recipe is a keeper. I think I might like to try it with raisins next time.
