Hey Deena...

Who'd think we'd still be here! I wonder how long everyone was with ABC Teach. Geeze, I know I was there, it seems like 3 years....but now can't remember..I know I have paid at least twice for the annual membership, so I'm think 3 years all together..

Anyway, thanks too to Amanda for keeping us all together, we have all become a LITTLE  attached to each other.

Thanks for reminding us Deena :D and we are so glad that so many newbies have joined us :D

Blessings

Hasn't this year just flown by?! I can't believe we've been here for a whole year.

Thanks so much, Amanda, for creating this "home" for us to congregate in. You've been so wonderful at making us feel welcome and helping us work out the little "quirks" we've experienced here and there. I hope we've been more of a blessing to you than a pain, because you're a blessing to us!

A YEAR???? Where does the time go? whew! Seems like I just blinked 5 months ago. The blink before that was when I was first looking into homeschooling about 2.5 - 3 years ago. Yikes!

Amanda - THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for providing us a great place to swap ideas, vent and get some great advice from each other. It wouldn't be possible without your generosity. THANK YOU!!!! If you ever head to Bryan, TX let me know and I'll bake you a cake!

Thanks from me, too! I need this place as much as my curriculum and homeschool group! Warm fuzzies to Amanda and everyone here.... :D

So Philly is the place to be in '07, huh?! My mom was born there and she is an Ancient Egypt nut.....maybe we could swing a trip.....(but I woulda considered it just for the Hershey place! )

PHILLY....!!!

Which direction is that?

Wouldn't that be nice? I know Dh can be talked into a one day drive to Florida, but Philly.....Geeze that seems like the other side of the world from way down South here

Jackie

Ah, c'mon, Tina!!! When again will your boys get to actually see the East Coast? Think of it as an extended field trip. You can see Philly, Yorktown, DC, New York, head up to Boston and Lexington and Concord, Gettysburg..... Oh, and coming from Texas you'll cross the Appalachian Mts. Virginia's Blue Ridge Parkway (and Shenandoah National Park) is so wonderful! You could head south along the coast to the Outer Banks. Or come home following the old wagons trails that went to Texas........

Deena

Wow Jackie, That sounds fun! Mind if we join ya for that trip Tina? We'll just fly to Texas and rent a van and drive out with ya! Hey, nevermind, while I'm dreaming, I might as well rent a new RV!

Jackie
04-29-2005, 02:19 PM
Deena, if you take the Oregon Trail home, we'll hitch a wagon with you!!! (Seriously, I've got relatives in the Seattle area, and one of these days we're taking the Trail West!)

Jackie girl,

You gotta head this way and visit us then! That'd be fun! There are lots of neat things to do here in this area!

So, when ya comin'?! :D

Jackie

Originally, we were saying next summer, but not if we end up going to Philly instead! I've also a good friend out your way, but she's hoping to have come "home" to Ohio by then. They moved out there when they were first married, and her oldest is in college now. But her DH is a pastor, and has begun to seriously look at churches back here.

Deana if you are taking an RV just stop in SC and pick up us also. I won't fly so riding in a RV might be relaxing. :D

Start saving your money Tisha cause we are on the van. Yes, my van. Ha Ha Your jeep will get the 3 of you there too. King Tut here we come. I am starting with a cookie jar. If I can get the change before the kids do. LOL

Hey Lorna I wanted to ride in comfort. They have a built in potty.

Jackie

You know, how about if Deena starts, and we all just fall in line when she comes by us. She can take the northern route going, stopping in Iowa/Illinois for Brooke, then through Ohio and Pennsylvania, arriving in Philly to see the display. Then she can head south through the southern states and Texas (for Tina and She), then on home. Once she reaches Washington again, she'll fall off and the rest of us will continue on until we get to our "stopping place".

Trish

Okay Jackie I'm in.

 Jackie, What a great idea!!! HeeHee! Wouldn't that be a hoot?!! We'd all see each others digs and area. That'd be an awesome learning experience! Maybe we'd leave Chinnok home, and have the traveling experience ourselves!

Trish, that's a great observation---RV's have built-in potty's! That's a wonderful convenience when traveling! 8)

I am being serious. I think my family will go and see the King Tut stuff.

Jackie
05-01-2005, 08:49 PM
In Philly, Lorna, or elsewhere? I'm serious, too, especially since my cousin ives there, and I feel I know her well enough to ask her if we could stay. Or maybe we could camp somewhere near by. But that IS two years away!

Amanda

Time flies, doesn't it?

It's no problem to provide a "spot" for you all to get together and share. A to Z has been online for 7 years, so Homeschool Spot should be around for a long time, too! :)

Hey, Amanda, does AtoZ still have that postcard exchange? I took part a while back, and didn't realize until I was cleaning my schoolroom the other day and came across the list that it was from you!

Trish

Thanks Amanda for a wonderful year. I would to also know if you have a postcard exchange. Vicki loves doing this. Thanks

People organize their own postcard exhanges here:
http://forums.atozteacherstuff.com/forumdisplay.php?f=60

Most of them do it around back to school time.

South Dakota
Michigan
Illinois
Indiana
Vermont
Connecticut
Mass.
Rhone Island
Connecticut
New Jersey

Sorry, Ohio's not on it! I've got most states from when *I* was a kid. Plus I've got many from other countries, and all kinds of other odds and ends. I've had trouble finding some to send to people of Ohio; the last time I went to the airport, I picked up a few just to have on hand!! I also keep Ohio State Buckeye cards handy; many of the boys like them, LOL!

Jackie, if you have a list let me know. I have post cards from all over myself.
I was looking back at her list and thinking we know people with relatives in many of these states. I need to make some phone calls and see if we can get this project going again. Dd wants cards with postmarks of course that makes it more difficult. We do have some of these without them.
Thanks for the reminder everyone.

Thanks, but I'm fine. I'd rather wait until the kids decided they wanted to make their own collection. Mine is really fairly complete, as far as the United States goes.
