I just had a nice little chat with a policeman in my living room. It seems that my 18mo son was so dissatisfied with the rate at which I came to reclaim him from the bedroom after his nap that he decided to enlist help from the SPD... by dialing 911.

NO reason to be sorry. I'm giggling a bit myself. I mean, what are the odds that in playing with the phone a baby would actually dial 911!?

OH MY GOODNESS!!! That is just amazing! Well now that is one that you will be talking about for a lifetime. I hope the policeman didn't give you a hard time. I would have been mortified...yet amused.

No, he was really nice. He smiled real big when it clicked what happened. I was/am pretty embarrassed, but it's still funny.

Emma did this before. She was playing on the phone and Handsome decided to join her on the other line. He kept saying, "Hello, hello, is anyone there?"
He had no idea that before he picked up the other phone, she dialed 911. A few minutes later a sheriff shows up. I explained everything to the officer and he wanted to look through the house to make sure that everything was alright. Right when he came in the house, our large dog darted around the corner, barking and ready to pounce the officer. We both ran out of the house and I slammed the door before the dog can get out. I asked if he wanted me to put the dog out back or in the garage so he can look through the house, he said it was alright but warned me that next time she did that we could be charged a fine or a fee for the officer coming out.
I can't remember how old she was but she was still crawling around the house.

Nothing has really changed. I tried calling the Dr. office but can't get ahold of anyone. I finally left a message yesterday afternoon, but so far no callback.

my dd did this before...problem was, she was 10!!!!
I was absolutely mortified to open my front door (in pjs, hair was brushed yet, etc., and screaming baby he wasn't done nursing yet!, to a sheriff! And my boys, 4 and 3, in their undies-only stage.....TALK ABOUT EMBARRASSING!!
My dd had gotten punished and sent to her room, and I guess she thought she was in great peril. She got CHEWED OUT by the cop on THAT one!!!!

My ds (maybe 11/2 ,2) did this once. I did not know it. He was just playing with the phone and pushing buttons. I took it from him and hung it up. Then it rings and it was 911! They asked me a few questions and I told them it must have been my son when he was playing with the phone. They hung up and I thought that was that. Next thing I know there is a cop at my door. He also wanted to come in and look around. He was very nice. I let him look and he just said be more careful and left. I really appreciated him coming and checking anyway. Something could have been wrong and he might not have known unless he looked around. We have had some weird stuff happen in our family and I appreciate policemen who do this. Not just take your word for it.

I did that once when I was a kid. My sister & I were home alone & I got mad at her & threatened to call the cops. I hadn't actually meant to, but apparently I did. We told them it was a mistake & then a few minutes later a cop showed up at the door. He wanted to come in & look around. I think they have to do that, just in case someone broke in, you called & were caught by the intruder. So they want to check & make sure someone isn't holding a gun to your head or something.
I also called Arizona while trying to call a friend who lived 4 houses down the street from me. I had really bad luck with phones as a child.
