I need some good quotes to pass on to someone. Nothing long but easy to remember.

He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. -Jim Elliot
Check out the book "Men of science, men of God". It has some good quotes from famious scientists. One, I think Kepler, made a comment "The undevout astronomer is a fool" or some such thing, LOL!

Vicky,
What kind of messages (topics?) would you like to convey? That will help narrow down which quotes to recommend.
Jackie,
I like that book. By the way, it's William Herschel who said: "The undevout astronomer must be mad."

Thank you for the correction! I knew I didn't have it right! Was Keppler the one that said scientists were high priests of God, explaining His mysteries (or some such like that!)?

Jackie,
You're welcome! Kepler wrote in one of his books: "Since we astronomers are priests of the highest God in regard to the book of nature, it befits us to be thoughtful, not of the glory of our minds, but rather, above all else, of the glory of God."
Vicky,
I'm going to list some of my favorites here that are kind of short and cute. I have too many; it's so difficult to pick only a few :).
"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."
"The man who kneels to God can stand up to anything." Louis H. Evans, Jr.
"You can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips." Oliver Goldsmith
"Praise God for dirty dishes. At least you have food."
"No one would remember the Good Samaritan if he had only had good intentions." Margaret Thatcher
"They are the true disciples of Christ, not who know most, but who love most." Frederich Spanheim
"Aim at heaven and you get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither." C.S. Lewis
"Peace is seeing a sunrise and a sunset and knowing Whom to thank."
"The brook would lose its song if you removed the rocks."
"Worry does not empty tomorrow of sorrow... Worry empties today of strength." Corrie Ten Boom
"Even if you are on the track, you will get run over if you just sit there."
"If Satan can't make us bad, he'll make us busy." John West
"Your talent is God's gift to you; what you do with your talent is your gift to God."
"Never confuse the will of the majority with the will of God." Charles Colson
"Poverty is life without Jesus, but close friendship with Him is incalculable wealth." T. a' Kempis
Hope this helps,
Urailak

Yes, that's it! DH and I decided we need to get a copy of that book for our library. There's also a good one (again longer, if I remember right!) by George Washington Carver that I liked, but I don't think it came from the book. I taught a unit on peanuts a while back.
My former pastor's favorite:
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Oh, I like these for our copy-work and dictation writings.
I'm off to cut and paste, color code and place them into our "pick jars."

Little things are indeed little, but to be faithful in little thins is a great thing.

To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.

God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking!

I thought of a few more:
Don't throw stones at your neighbors if your own windows are glass.

Bumper sticker: Driver carries no cash, he's married!
I had a whole folder of these that I have saved, and I can't find it anywhere! Now I'm curious as to where it disappeared to! Anyway, that's all I can think of---until further notice anyway! :)

"Fool me once--shame on you. Fool me twice--shame on me." ~ Mark Twain
He is my favorite guy to quote if you are looking for quirky little "proverbs" from modern people. We just got moved and my brain isn't thinking of other stuff right now....hopefully I can think of a few more soon. :D

I think this is another one of Twain's goodies:
"I'd rather keep my mouth closed and appear (foolish, ignorant, or something similar) than to open it and remove all doubt."

My favorite book by Twain is "The Diary of Adam and Eve". It ends with Adam standing by Eve's grave, commenting, "Wherever she was, there was Eden."

Sleeping makes me hungry. Eating makes me sleepy. It's a good life!!!

A Ziggy quote that I once did in cross-stitch:
If God wanted us to see the sunrise, he'd have scheduled it later in the day.

Only those who risk going to far will ever know how far they can go.
A kitten is the tender flower in the garden of the animal world.
Cats are such agreeable freiends: they ask no questions and pass no criticisms.
Garfield said, " Cats are keen, cats are great, cats are clean they lick your plate."

From my ds : " Don't throw rocks at a hornets nest unless you want to get stung." This comes from learning the hard way.
You can't make a mountian out of a grain of sand. So stop trying.
The meaning the the above: Don't make a big deal out of the little things.
Don't sweat the small stuff.
My brother always said," Worry has killed many men, why worry."
