BTW- I made this for my husband one time, to take to work. He comes home the next day and says ' I have a strange question. Did the meat fall out of my sandwich?' LOL.

Cool, I've heard of this but I've never seen a recipe or tried it! Now, do I get tomatoes at the store that are still green? Is there a better kind of tomato than others? I have tried, but tomatoes don't grow well for me here, so I HAVE to buy them....

becky- that story is so cute! and Yes salt and pepper optional. Even though I put that ingredients in a lot of the recipes I have posted. I NEVER add salt or pepper to any dish. I also use unsalted butter for all my cooking/baking and rice milk. I know, weird. But they all turn out tasty:)

That is so funny!
I am laughing because I am reminded of a time I made Handsome's sandwich for work. He comes home and said he enjoyed his "Wish Sandwich." I was not sure what he was talking about. He told me he wished it had meat in it.
I put everything on it but forgot the lunch meat.

Deena- I use regular red tomatoes to fry, because that's what my mom always did. I just choose the firmest ones I can get.

I don't think I've ever made them out of red tomatoes before. I know my mom has though.
