Thanks. I do make my own spaghetti sauce. Pretty much the same way
I use:
garlic powder, dehydrated onion, basil, oregano, Italian seasonings, salt, sugar, dill weed and parsley flakes.
one large can of tomato sauce and one can of tomato paste and sometimes petite diced tomatoes. I just simmer on the stove while the pasta boils, pop the garlic bread (margarine, garlic powder, salt, parsley flakes and dill weed) when I put the spaghetti on, set the timmr for 5 minutes, when it goes off I switch to broil and put timmer for 3 minutes, bread and spaghetti are ready at the same time!

Way back, in the 70's, I made "spaghetti" for our friends, the next time one of the friends came over, he brought a spaghetti recipe for me to "TRY". He was trying to tell me that my spaghetti sauce was terrible!!! His mother knew an old Italian lady that used this recipe. So here it is:
1 large can tomato puree
3 small cans tomato paste
3 small cans tomato sauce
3 small cans of water (Dh likes it a little more watery, so I add a little more water)
1 Tablespoon parsley flakes
1 Tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon (I use 1 Tablespoon, I like garlic) garlic salt
1 teaspoon basil
1 pinch of thyme
4 sprigs of rosemary
1 Tablespoon parmesean cheese
1 Tablespoon sugar (I use honey)
1 pound of browned hamburg (you can use more if you like)
1 small can of mushrooms (dh doesn't like mushrooms so I omit them)
I put this in a crock pot - on low and go to church - about 2 - 3 hours and when we get back ---Mmmmmmmm!!!
It freezes well too. This makes enough for 2 meals for us. Of course Dh loves it and he heaps his dinner plate with spaghetti noodles, eats that and then puts about 1/3 more noodles. So, it would probably make 3 meals for 4 normal eaters.

Yep, it's all in the taste. I just really don't like canned spg sauce. It's much better when you just make your own with plain ol tomato sauces and your own spices to your liking.
Thanks for the recipe:)
