Ya know.. I've been to their site a few times.. I have actually been looking to the future.. trying to plan middle/high school years. When I was growing up in public schools some of the better schools I went to used their stuff, so I figured it to be good, I like the looks of lots of it, but haven't actually used any of it for us. I know not much help huh..lol.

Pears-Prentice Hall-Scott Foresman

You can purchase their products online. The Science Explorer series is good. Great help line, customer service and fast delivery.

Do you hae a specific question?

I posted a while back about them, just asking a question. But since then it's all figured out.

I'm liking their ss and I've run into their readers at a second hand store. I'm wondering about their quality, are they challenging, etc, etc. Are their TEs easy to read and follow?

I found there whole life science curriculum at Salvation Army. I looked through everything, including the teachers guide and it appears to be very thorough although I find it to be very traditional. I was able to purchase the students textbook, test book, teachers guide, all the workbooks and little extras that came with it for $4.00 completely unused.:p :p Some of the activities were still wrapped.
Because it is more traditional then I would like, we are going to suppliment with a few things here and there. We are going to add extra hands on projects as well. But I really enjoyed what I read. It also has the answer key.

i have there reading textbook "Imagine that!", it is pretty good, I also have the workbook that goes with it.
They are one of those math programs that are going to the 'new' way of doing math, I found that out after researching after the topic was brought up on here a while back.
On the ss part I have noticed that the homeschool stockroom is offering it with there box curriculum and so is the homeschool superstore.
Sorry for rambling hope this helped. (having a brain fart day!)

Thank you for your interest in our products! Samples requested online can be sent only to schools or school districts in our database. If you would like to review the textbooks, you will need to purchase them. If the textbooks do not meet your needs, you may return them as long as they are in salable condition.

If you would like to place an order for student textbooks, you can order them online. If you would like to order teacher editions, please call Customer Service at 800-848-9500. We will be more than happy to help you. Please feel free to contact us for further assistance.

okay I got this when I clicked on Homeschooling on thier samples list! I was hoping to see a page or something but gee they are rude in my book, just because we are homeschoolers we cant see a sample but schools can?

Some places are like that, TM. I don't know why, but they don't want to deal with a little homeschool. Money is money, I'd think. Did you see the place on the left where you can request to be contacted by a sales rep? I'm thinking of doing that.
Last year a Houghton-Mifflin rep told me I was crazy to order school curriculum for homeschooling. He said to go with Calvert or one of the better hs curriculums! I actually said to him 'aren't you employed by Houghton-Mifflin??' He said yes he was, but he also said hs curriculums are more sensible than a school curriculum for use in the home. So, they're not all bad companies, I guess.

A few weeks ago when I was looking at Scott Foresman and got the same message TM did, I was a little erked!! But, then I got to thinking maybe they just feel we would use the free/sample lessons and not buy their books if you know what I mean. I have found that most companies are willing to sell to us. Homeschooling is becoming a big thing these days and I'm sure the major publishers will soon all catch on.

I bet, too, they'd sell to hsers. We tend to look for those freebies too much, don't we? Lol. I know I do.

TM, I hope I didn't sound insulting, because I didn't mean to be. Free stuff is nice, because as homeschoolers we pay our own way on everything. I'd love to be able to order something and I guess turn the bill over to someone else like school teachers do. I know they spend their own money, too, though.

becky no worries, I was just clarifying hehe, with this one I was not looking for a free bie, but tolook at one page in a book to know what it looks like. visual is a lot of learning after all.
but no worries I am not one to get offended very easily hehe
Be blessed!
