I was outside trimming my dog and I got attacked by ants! I didn't notice until I was bit in the bum! YUK! I came running in the house, stripping along the way screaming for the kids to help me!

Now I have them all cleaning, shaking my clothes, vacuming the back room, etc. LOL BTW my bum still hurts! I am going out to kill them!!!!

ANT CONTROL TONIC # 1.
4 to 5 tbsp cornmeal
3 tbsp bacon grease
3 tbsp baking powder
3 packsges of yeast (I suggest the rapid rise)
Mix cornmeal and bacon grease into a paste, then add baking powder and yeast. Dab the gooey mix on the insides for jar lids and set them near the ant hills. When ants eat this mixture, they swell up and go to the big ant hill in the sky.
ANT CONTROL TONIC # 2.
1 cup sugar
3 cups water
1 tbsp boric acid powder (poison)
Boil sugar and water then pour into clean 64 oz. glass jar with tight fitting lid. Add boric acid powder and replace lid. Mix well until powder is desolved. This is a poison so be careful in handling it AND label it...KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS. Put in small jar lids and place in middle of ant trails. Place a fine open weave plastic grid over the lid witha stone so animals cant' gANT CONTROL TONIC # 1.

We have fire ants here in the south. Not the big red ants, tiny small black ones that swarm and bite. The bites itch like crazy!! Once the ants made a nest in my ds's bedroom wall (5 yrs ago) and they attacked me while I was trying to vacuum. I didn't think I'd ever stop itching!! And the bites hurt!! Is that what you have? So sorry!!

The fire ants are horrid here! I think it is ammonia that is supposed to be good for the bites. I've heard that drawing a line with chalk will prevent them from coming in the house as they supposedly won't cross over it.

Amy, have you tried any of these? I need to find something especially with the dgds here. Last year it was the snakes that were worriesom. First a rattler and then a water moccasin. We need to get some more sulfer to throw around the edges of the house.

One quick answer here.... ( yes I CAN be short haha)
We live on an ant hill, my whole town, is one! We have speical rocks outside that were said to have some sort of mineral inside that repells insects.
Since we placed this in oru garden outside the kitchen window I noticed that it was less. Not sure if it was that or the fact that I prayed God's promises of these things nto coming against us? I would tend to lean on the later! GOd is awsome! ( I Know I m in the wrong list for that, couldnt help myself!)

I have never heard of this before.

I may try some of ABalls suggestions.

Sixcloar- YES they are tiny small black ones that covered me and FAST!

Needless to say...I did finish trimming my Toy in the front yard under a shade tree, which for the time there were no ants. And she looks perty:) I'd post a pic, but don't know how.

Nellie, I knwo how bad they hurt! they like to bite me too and my family thought I was silly , that ants dont bite, untill they saw one hanging on for life Lol!

We get them in our yard still but pTL they have not been going rampant in the house for a long while, I do spray occasionally with that bad stuff black flag, but only around certain areas not where we will come in contact with it and stuff like that.
but I think they are gone, my neighbor has Clark come and spray ever so often for that and other things, so maybe they are taking care of us too? But I choose to think God took care of them for me either way

also baby powder will stop them in thier tracks
of course your house starts to look like a dust cloud for a while but I think it worked for my baby's rooms when I dusted the carpet in doorways and heater vents then ran the vaccume over it .. this did two things, worked in to carpet and cleaned up the ants that got stuck in the powder. My mom taught me that one!
Ants can't cross a line of powder! its too slippery! try it on your wood floors and walk on it you wil get the idea that the ants get!
Kids love it hahah!
hm... do I hear a science experiment in the making?
save some ants!
