If anyone else uses cloth diapers the ones I bought from Comfybummy.com and tinytush.com are EXCELLENT. You can also purchase the cutest diaper pins! We have monkeys, ducks, lions etc. They are wonderful, so much better than the ones I find in stores. Just thougth I would pass this info on. :)

Nellie - I gotta question....we're starting the p rocess of potty training the youngest child. (if she potty trains, I can guarantee, she will be our last! :D).

I was thinking of switching to cloth diapers so that she'd be more uncomfortable and more motivated to train. She's a little over 2....how many do you think I should buy?

I was thinking if I got 10 that would be good (I'd still use disposable at night and if we go out).

Or would it be best to get the underwear type with the thicker middle? does comfy bummy sell those?

THANKS!

Yes, they sell them.

At comfybummy you can try one before you buy.

Though I only used the ones with pins, even when potty training, I seriously just love the prefold ones:) 10 would be good though!

Krista, I found a 3-pack of the thick training underwear in Walmart last week that was $4.50 for 3 pairs. My dgd is 17 months and will actually pull her diaper off if she isn't comfortable. I had told my dd that I would try to work with the baby once it got warm because I know it will be easier. I was thinking about getting the plastic covers but it is sooo hot here already I was afraid they would be too much.

I have to advise against buying cloth diapers to potty train with. They are addictive and can get VERY expensive!!! I just put my dd in big girl pants two weeks ago and things are going well. She does use cloth diapers at nap and nighttime.

I have always used cloth and never had any problems. Once you buy a few there is no expense, you just add them to your other laundry loads. Of course everyone will have their own opinions on cloth/disposable.

Jennifer, we used the cloth training pants with Gianna, I also used the plastic pants to go over them, I didn't want the mess on the floor or furniture. It was Sept. so we were inside alot. She trained easy with them, she hated being wet.

That's been my problem. They are just so darn cute that I couldn't get away with just a few ;)
I wish that we had used cloth with DS. I didn't realize that they were so easy to come by until I was pregnant with DD though :(

Thanks! I wanted to do the Gerber training pants thing - but I've been to three walmart's and two target's and no one seems to carry them. they have them at Toys R Us and Babies R Us...but theya re price. I have to be honest and say since she's potty training he will NOT go for paying $9.95 a diaper for cloth. I think if we were pregnant and looking to have another he'd make the investment, but since we're nearing the end, he wouldn't. Nor would I.

I may just give in and get the Gerber pants online or something.

THANK YOU for the info Nellie, if we do decide to have another, it certainly will be a consideration!

The very best way for me to potty train is to put a BIG t-shirton the kid (that comes down to the knees), and let them run around in the backyard with NOTHING else on. They become panicky the minute they have to go, because they know they're not wearing a diaper or ANYTHING. Faythe was lmy stubborn one. NOTHING worked. A friend suggested letting her go bare-bottom, and I was DESPERATE enough to try it. Would you believe that child was trained in 48 hours, and never had an accident?

That would be a nice idea if we had stuff in our backyard to run around with.

We're going to be casual about this for the summer - BUT when the older kids go to Grandmom & Grandpop camp and the end of summer and I have only the 2 year old, I may try that. :D

Jackie, my older two learned that way! At the time I had a baby sitter that had twins around the same age as my older 2. The 4 of them decided they didn't like wearing diapers and would take them off. After a few accidents they realized what they were doing and that was that!

Krista, I found the trainers mixed in with onsies and stuff like that. They only had boy ones but I figured for around the house who cares! My dgd is to young to know the difference anyway!

Jackie-That's how I ened up potty training my kids. They were nakie for 2 days and trained!! The best thing ever! I did still use cloth at night for a few months afterwards.
