I have! The kids just push the top sheets down to the bottom of the bed and they stay that way. Why even have them on if that is how they are going to be. So, I have changed the kids beds to just the bottom sheet and the comforter on top.

THAT'S PHILLIP!!! I keep trying to tell him he'd be much more comfortable sleeping under his top sheet now, rather than his heavy comforter!

We stopped making Bill use a top sheet years ago. I got tired of finding them wadded up at the foot of the bed.

None of us use topsheets in our house. My husband and kids are all blanket kickers, and it always ended up at the bottom of the bed anyway. Also, having no top sheet makes it a lot easier to make the bed, LOL!

I do not have the kids put on top sheets!!! For same reason as everyone else.

I wouldn't but hubby likes it.

I LOVE top sheets and married a man who cannot stand it if the sheet and blanket are not the same size. So, no top sheet :(

We are top sheet users, especially now that we are up to the hundreds. A sheet is all we sleep with this time of year.:D
Ems wasn't a top sheet user until this year. She would always kick it off and it would end up under her bed so I did not use them for her bed. I don't know what happened but she asked for a top sheet this year and she uses it every night.

Dh and I, and our dd use topsheets, and like them! The boys don't though. They always kicked them down to the bottom also, if they're on.

Same here. DH and I use them, the kids can not stand them so I don't put them on their beds.

well, Since I just read the money saving thread, I guess it saves money washing not washing the top sheets.

This is so funny, my DS and I were just having this conversation. He pushes it to the bottom of the bed all the time. I finally gave up and told him he doesn't have to use it.

I didn't realize this was such a common problem.

LOL It is funny you asked that cause I thought I was the only one that didn't out top sheets on the kid's beds.
I gave that up a long time ago. My 10yr just now started using them.

Dh and I use them, but my son doesn't. He sleeps with a little blanket on him and usually that is off after a while.

OK, OK, OK!!! You've convinced me! I'll tell Phillip tomorrow when we do his sheets that he doesn't have to put a top sheet on if he doesn't want to!!! And I thought it was just MY son that was weird, lol! And then his future wife can deal with making him a "proper" sleeper, lol!

OH YEAH! I gave up on top sheets....made them into matching curtains for the boys' windows in their rooms. I bought the matching valances for along the top. One has Nemo and the other has Spongebob. :D

Hubby and I use our top sheet, though. I'm very hot-natured, so sometimes that's ALL I use is the sheet (no comforter...that ends up on hubby's side or on the bottom of the floor).

My mil made curtains for dd from top sheets also. Though we had to get extra top sheets, cuz dd does use them on her bed.

Guess I missed that thread. DD hasn't used a top for several years and DS just started using his again in when he got a Transformers sheet set for Christmas.

My kids have been short sheeting their beds for some time now. Personally, I like the top sheet, otherwise it feels unmade.

I MUST have a top sheet! ALWAYS! (Though in the summer, that's usually all I use!)

None of the boys blankets are plain. I mean, some of them are plain in color, but they are not just plain old blankets. Eli's main blanket is his "Brown Blanket". Quin's is the "Brown Striped Blanket". Yes, those are their names (according to my children). As a result, I am not allowed to change out their bedding. I have to have it all washed and put back on the bed before bedtime (or naptime). They each have 3 blankets they sleep with. They start the night with all three on, no matter the heat. If it's hot, by the end of the night they are all off to the side. Because of this unusual arrangement, the addition of a sheet has never worked out. They want it on top of all three blankets...lol...thereby defeating the purpose.

I, on the other hand, am unable to sleep without something on. So in the warmer months I have to have a top sheet or I can't sleep (with the comforter I'm too hot, without anything and I can't get comfortable). Though I usually spend the night with my feet sticking out the side ;)

Oh yea! I'm not the only one! Top sheets rarely get on the beds in our house. Come summer, yes, then that's all my husband and I might use on occasion but that's it. They're simply too much of a pain.

I agree in the summer top sheets are it, in the winter hubby and I actually use different blankets because he likes to be extra warm , and I prefer to be just warm. So in the winter no top sheet.

Handsome and I use different sheets and blankets, all year long. If we didn't, I would be left out in the cold.

In the winter I use two things on my bed. Flannel sheets and a down comforter! That's all we need!

I put a top sheet on the girls' beds, and sometimes they fall asleep before kicking them off. LOL Joy uses hers more than Katie does. Katie has a pink blanky that she loves, and she is happy with just that. DH and I use a top sheet and a blanket - although the blanket often gets kicked off of the bed in the summer.

I remember when DH and I were first stationed in Scotland back in the early '90s. I climbed into bed that first night at a friend's house, and wondered what happened to the top sheet! The bed had a bottom sheet and a very heavy duvet on top. Nothing else.

Turns out that was how they do it over there. I don't know if it's true for all of Europe, but those of you who thought you were just short-sheeting your bed, well, you're actually being european tres chic! :)

Personally I have to have a top sheet, and like others have said, it's all I cover up with in the summertime. The boys used to wad them up really badly, but they've gotten better with age.

We all have to have our top sheets here. Even our two kids have to have them on their beds.

My dd7 won't use a top sheet, she kicks it to the bottom - so I stopped using one. She only uses her comforter. DS3 starts out with a top sheet and comforter but tosses and turns so much that he is usually not covered at all by morning. DD13 likes her comforter only. So, no top sheets here.

The kids get top sheets, and they get to make the beds. HEHE.

I sort of consider the sheets as underwear for the bed. We adults have some covers that are not conveniently wash (down, or very heavy woven cotton blankets).
The kids have those fuzzy fleecy type things with characters and quilts depending on the time of year.

DH and I are both very particular about texture of our bed covers and could not do without the sheets. They have to be just right and fortunately we have the same tastes.

Well, I didn't read all the responses but most....my kids hate using topsheets. I don't mind one way or the other. I thought my kids were nuts now I see many don't use topsheets. When my mom came up to help me after baby #3 she kept saying, "don't you use a topsheet? why don't you use topsheets?" LOL.

We do bottom sheets only for the kids and then a blanket on top, but I need a top sheet for myself.
