Does anyone use their knives and like them? Being as I like Pampered Chef items I was taking a look at them.

I have the bread knife, but that's it. I really like it, though! I'm a big fan of their stoneware (I use it as much as my cast iron skillets, but I can't take it camping!)

Can anyone explain what each knife is used for? I would like one to cut things like veggies and fruits. Then one for cutting sandwiches. Cheese too. Also, one for cutting meats.

I have the bread knife and love it. Its used to cut loafs of bread, but I use it for other things like cutting cheese and love it.

I had the old knife that went in the sharpener but some how the sharpener holder got tossed out, but when I bought a new one, I was disapointed in the new sharpener/holder it wasn't as good.

I will have to look at them online some more. They are less expensive than the knives I saw at Kohls.

We bought the Cutco knives when I was working. They are the best I've ever used. They are very expensive but guaranted for life. I've had them for 12 years and they are just like new.

Try E-bay for brand new pampered cheff stuff, sometimes the dealers stop selling and get rid of their stuff there.

I have the paring knife and cheese knife. I now use the cheese knife for my candle dye blocks. It cuts it so smooth and evenly.

I have all the knives. I was a PC consultant for a long time.

If you don't stay ontop of "sharpening them" they do get dull and need to be professionally sharpened.

Now...the misnomer and part of why I left PC....can't perpetuate misinformation....

You, an average home person, cannot CANNOT sharpen a knife. You can hone it. There is a difference.

With use, the edge of a knife starts to till, curl almost. When you run the knife over a sharpener or steel you hone it...or re-allign the blade. YES, it does seem sharper, but in fact, it is not.

To sharpen a knife it needs to be brushed and polished on a diamond saw (it's a special saw/steel with diamond stones and runs really really fast). This HAS TO be done by a professional (not only is the equiment expensive, but it takes up a lot of room and you could lose limbs if not used properly).

A knife should be honed every 5 or 6 uses. It should be sharpened once a year at least. If you are honing as you should, you won't have to get it sharpened more than that.

My husband got sick of our PC knives, so we bought a knife block. We got it a year ago...it's great.

I do still use my PC knives, but more for when I'm taking them out of the house b/c the blade is protected and I know that my kids can't accidently cut themselves.

Also, the new PC knives no longer have the sharpening case - I THINK - when I was looking at the site the other day looking for the baking pan to post, and I went browsing. Looks like the knives are different now.

:) Sorry so wordy!!!
