View Full Version : How do I document Hands on activities?

I am very new at all of this! My state(Missouri) doesn't require me to report to anyone but it does require that I keep records of hours required in attendance, 600 hrs of Reading, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math. 400 of those hrs are to be spent at the location of the homeschool. Is just the written down version of what we did, time spent doing the activity, what they learned, where the activity took place ect... enough for legal purposes? I am so scared about all this legal documentation!!! :eek: Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I live in Pa and have some of the toughest hs laws. I am a very hands on teacher. I take lots of pictures to put in my portfolios to show what we did. I also have my kids write about some of the hands on things we did. Example - we just had an exchange student from China stay with us. We learned so much by talking with her, but how do you show that? Besides photos taken with her my older chidlren wrote about our visit and some new things they learned. My younger children drew pictures.
You are correct as far as the writing down what you did being enough. I have never had a problem with them excepting that. My children are big readers and I have taken a picture or two of them reading but mostly have them keep a list of all the books they have read in the school year. We do some reports, but not for every book read. Plus, I have them do oral reports and there is no way to prove that other then to include their index cards or to just write it in their portfolios as something they did.
