Ds is always coming up with recipes. And when he does he really wants to try them. Here's what he came up with this time. Keep in mind he's 4, I just don't want you thinking this is the work of a 14 year old lol.
15) FLAWR 1 CUP UV SOT ANd PUT TO CUPS UV IN ROG eT eS AcTHULe SPOS TO be HAF UV bUDR AND FL UV bUDR AND PUT ON The WUD STOV
Translation: 2.5 cups of flour 1 cup of salt and put two cups of in wrong it is actually supposed to be half of butter and full of butter and put on the wood stove.
The funny thing is every recipe has the same ingredients. The amounts vary, but it's always butter, flour, water and salt. This one is just lacking the salt lol.

Maybe it is a good time to teach about food groups, and about the ingredients and what they do, if you have not yet.
Flour-starch-protien-structure etc.
Salt- flavor-preservative-chemical to active levening agents.
butter-lubricant, flavoring, emulsifier etc

go to www.dole5aday.com and order your "class" a set of cookbooks and teaching materials. Its a great start. They will do this for homeschoolers, you may have to make up a name for your homeschool.
my DD's first favorite recipe was this: melt some chocolate in the microwave and dip in some pretzels, she told every one her recipe.

By the way buffer your class size, I always ask for an extra one or two because sometimes if the kids are young they get torn.
also get your colgate class set for national dental month.

Danielsmom, that is so cute, maybe he's going to grow up and be a very important chef. Might see him on Food Network or something.

My ds13 had a recipe he told me when he was 4. It was for chocolate cake:
First you put in some flour and some salt. You need meat and then some peaches, and a little of this and a little of that and a little of this and a little of that (Yes, he emphasized that you add those twice)! Stir it all up and put it in the oven on 60 degrees for 30 minutes or 6 hours. Then you have chocolate cake! :D
Uh, btw, we actually never tried that! But DanielsMom, ds13 LOVES to cook, and makes some great stuff, even better than this chocolate cake recipe! So his recipe making when he was little was from a true enjoyment of cooking!

Hmmm...chocolate cake. Seems to be missing one important ingredient, but I can't figure out what that would be. Must be the little of this or the little of that. Great chefs always have their secret ingredients, right?
