So I need some great heathy and a few not that we can take with us if need be. I can bring my crockpot to church Wed ..
Well I hope I make sense and I am not rambling but I really need some new ideas, We are tired of the same and we can't go out to eat this much (even though we may like that):)

yes Amy did and there are so many things you can do with a crockpot. Anything can go in the crockpot. From soups to roast you name it. If you put it in the oven put it in the crockpot. Stews. so much. I would have to get my list out again .Let me know if you still need more.

I just put chicken breast in the crockpot covered in italian dressing. Can't get any easier than that!! My ds11 loves that and he is a very picky eater, so when he wants it, I make it!!! Sometimes I add green beans to it, that is good and easy, too!

Oh Leslie that sounds wonderful do you use the jar dressing or package one?

I went to send Kris my address for the Valentine Exchange, and found out I still had Amy's recipe there! (You KNOW I don't clean out my PM box very often, lol!) So I copied it, and here it is:

I put in the pork, add half a can of coke cola and half a very thinnly sliced onion, and about a half bottle of your favorite bbq sauce, let it be in the crock pot about 8 hours on low. Shred with fork, skim any fat, mix in the barbque sauce with the shredded meat.

I actually use the Kraft or hidden valley fat free itialian dressing in the bottle. The fat free itialian is good....has alot of flavor (unlike other fat free dressings). It's the only fat free thing I can use without the whole family complaining! :)

Here's another easy chicken crock pot recipe:

Boneless, skinless chicken breasts (can be frozen)
1 C. sour cream
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup

Mix the soups and sour cream. Place chicken in crock pot and cover with soup mixture. Cook on low for 8 hrs.

This makes a creamy white sauce over the chicken. My family loves it. I have added potatoes, and it's good that way, too. I'm thinking green beans might be good in it.

GOT IT!!! I wanted it one year for Christmas and didn't get it. So every time I saw it in the store, I told Rachael "There's what Daddy's going to get me for Christmas next year....." Rachael, of course, is my responsible kid that can take a hint, and let Dad know in no uncertain terms what it was Mom wanted, lol!

I make something similar in the oven. I just top the same thing with swiss cheese and stovetop. My family loves it! I was thinking of trying this in my new crockpot.

Its never a bother for me to look up a recipe. If any one has something they need or are thinking about let me know I'll do my best to find it. I was just looking at a crockpot recipe book last night.

I have a few on my blog....but here's one of our fav's

Cranberry Chicken

6 boneless/skinless chick breast halves
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
1 8 oz bottle French Dressing (orange kind)
1 packet Lipton Onion soup mix (or comperable)

Place chick in bottom of crockpot. Mix sauce, dressing and soup mix together and pour over chicken. Cook on low 8-10 hours. You can add instant rice about an hour before serving.

I usually cut the chicken into chunks if I'm going to add the rice because then it becomes a scoop into a bowl kind of meal.

Jackie - what's a good cut of pork for your recipe...one that will shred well....I'm NO GOOD at picking out pork and I always end up making it too dry! :D

I can totally relate. My first pork loin was my best. After that, I just couldn't get it right.

TO DIE FOR CROCK POT ROAST

1 beef roast, large enough to fit in your crockpot
1 pkg. Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix
1 pkg. brown gravy mix
1 pkg. Italian dressing mix
1/2 C. warm water

Place roast in crockpot. Mix all three envelopes and
sprinkle on top of roast. Pour water in the bottom of the
crockpot. Cover and cook on low 6 to 7 hours.

Note: Can use half of seasoning packages without
jeopardizing the taste. Also you can add more water at
end for more gravy

I've made this but didn't think about it in time for the crockpot and made it in the oven, and it was good.

for pork we use pork loin. We buy it in the big vaccume packed package and we cut up a meal for pork chops then we have the not so good looking end for the crockpot.

Krista, I don't know what is a good cut. Amy would probably know! I get a roast that is on sale.

This may already have been posted, but I found it this evening - www.crockpot.com has recipes, products and tips on how to use your crock pot. I just splurged and bought the Smart Pot. My first one I had lasted me at least 15 years so I'm hoping I get my money's worth out of this one!

Jen, let me warn you about the Smart Pot! My husband bought me one with the digital control. I had it plugged in when no one was home. We had a big storm go through and had a lightening hit that resulted in a surge or something. That surge automatically turned my crock pot on HIGH. We were lucky it didn't start a fire! Now it can ONLY be on HIGH. I'm afraid to use it! So my advice is to NEVER have it plugged in unless you are actually using it. (I know, that should go without saying, but I was dumb enough to have it plugged in even though it was turned off!)

Thanks for the advice, Jackie! One thing in this house that is a major problem is there are only 4 outlets in the kitchen and two are hd for the dryer and stove. Plug in a fridge and washer and that leaves only 2 slots! I have to use an extension cord that gets unplugged as soon as possible because counter space is another thing I'm lacking!

:O Sounds like an episode of the Brady Bunch - remember the one where they did the fire safety course? LOL :D
