I am preparing a unit study of disasters - planning to cover natural & man made. Has anyone done anything like this? Do you have great ideas you would like to share? I particularly like activities that use the multiple intelligences so we have choices.
Thanks!

We haven't done that but it sounds interesting. We did study tornadoes but I think the girls didn't like it as much as I did. Good luck with your unit study. Beth

The tornado in a bottle is really neat. My daughter made one when she was in 6th grade.

My ds13 did the Tornado in a bottle for a science experiment with a group we were in then. He presented it and his research and findings to the class he was in. It turned out well!

We made the tornado in a bottle thing in Mission Friends one year only we called it a hurricane and added some tiny shells and a little balloon with only enough air to puff it out in the very end and tie it to make it look like a fish. That was so much fun. We let the kids add drops of blue food coloring to make it look like an ocean.

AussieMom,
I have a "Hurricanes and Tornadoes" Unit Study that I downloaded from a site somewhere. I can't remember where, but if you PM me your email address I will try to send it to you. It does seem to focus some of its information on the US, but you might be able to use some of it. Let me know if you'd like it.
