Got an email from Heidi this morning and thought I would mention here that Ashley (and the entire family) need to be bathed in prayer right now.

I'll leave the other details up to Heidi to share if she so chooses. Ashely's issues are health right now...

Ashley had a seizure on Saturday night- very scary! So, we took her to the emergency room on Sunday, per the advice of our pediatrician. After a long wait, bloodwork, and a CT scan (which both appeared normal) we were sent home.
She's been diagnosed with a condition called Benign Rolandic Epilepsy. This is a condition that only affects children, 19% of which have a relative with epilepsy (Ashley has an aunt); it is expected to be outgrown by age 15.
No treatment is necessary at this time, unless she would ever have a daytime seizure. Normally, seizures only take place while sleeping or in the early morning hours, and mostly they just affect the face. Ashley had a full-blown seizure on Saturday night. However, 3 times in the past, she's had episodes where she has described her tongue as being "asleep" and she can't talk right- this is a "partial seizure" (I just found that out yesterday after researching!)
Anyway, I'm relieved to know what we're dealing with. And, of course, we appreciate any and all prayers.

Heidi is gone somewhere on vacation this week. The reason I know this because she took Vicki's Flat Stanley with her. I just thought I would let you know so you wouldn't worry.

We'll be praying for Ashley. Amazing what you can find out on your own when you do a little research. I've had some experience there for sure.

Just to let everyone know.....
we're back from our "mini" vacation. Despite the rain, we had a nice time. It was good for us to get away.
To those of you who have been praying- thanks so much. We really appreciate your prayers. Ashley seems fine. Yeah! And, I guess we can learn to live with the occassional seizure, if we know what it is, and that it will be outgrown.
Trish- Flat Stanley was a very cooperative travelling companion. We didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked- we had some camera trouble. So, we'll try to get some more here at home.

Looks like you and I took off at about the same time! Am glad to hear that Ashley is doing fine. I sure know it's so much easier to deal with things when you know what you're up against!
