I am trying to find pen pals for my two homeschooled daughters 9 and 10. Email and snail mail would be OK. They ice skate, one loves animals and animal planet (Emergency Vets) the other loves stuffed animals - especially Teddy Bears - They both are interested in anime and are big Pokemon fans
Would anyone be interested?
Thanks

LOL I joined this site specifically to find pen pals for my son. Looks like it's not the best spot? ;)

I'll give it a shot anyhow.

I have a 10 year old son. He is just the kindest, most loving child, He is our "late surprise" so all his sibs are adults now. We live in the country with no other kids in the neighborhood. We homeschool (obviously) and our church has been declinging in membership - hence....

My little Evan has no playmates any longer. And he is really lonely.

He just tried joining lego.com and making a club page, but it doesn't work really well on our slower pc. I feel so bad for him.

Anyway, he could really use some friends, and at this point we are looking at changing churches specifically for that. And I would love to get him some pen pals.

Evan loves playing outside, though he does it alone. He loves his trampoline. He loves his boys' gymnastics class and goes 3 times a week, getting better at tumbling and flips and such. He has a pony we are training together and he is beginning to ride. He loves legos. He likes computer games, but has a 30 minute a day limit. He likes to read. He wants to own a pet store when he gets out of college.

He's a sensitive young man, very thoughtful, and wants to please the Lord. (Someday he's going to make some lucky girl an awesome husband lol)

Anyway, if anyone knows of a pen pal. A boy his age would be great. Or if you have any suggestions, that would be wonderful.

Thanks!
Valerie

Very interesting, Valerie! I found this site because of precisely the situation you mentioned--although it was my teenage daughter who was feeling the need for more friends! She found a forum for teen homeschoolers & found this one for me. They have been great blessings to us both. Teen Homeschool Hang is for 12 yo's & up, my dd believes, but Evan & Connie's daughters could check into it.

Remember that many great leaders grew up without a tremendous amount of "socialization:"--Samuel & an old priest; David & his sheep; the boy-kings Joash & Josiah, one of whom was hidden for years in a back room of the temple; and NT greats like John the Baptist. My dh & I consol ourselves that our family has to be each other's best friends, & these yrs. with our highschoolers are some of the best. I hope both your families will find penpals. If not, I pray that lonliness will be filled with greater dependency upon the Lord. We don't know what He is preparing our children for, so we have to believe that He always provides what's best for them.

Thank you!

I spent much time searching for christian penpal sites for kids this morning and found that anything that HAD been just what I was looking for, was no longer working.

So I am working on one myself. LOL

If anyone is interested, or would not mind passing along the info, here is the website I am trying to build.

A friend of mine has expressed some interest in helping and she has an idea of using some sort of password program (of which I know nothing) to set up a way for all info to be anonymous. Where kids (or their parents) could set up a request for penpals without their email address needing to be shown - only on a request basis.

Am I making sense? Hopefull she knows how to set that part up, because I don't.

I am wondering why so many of them have gone down, when nearly every christian message board or blog space I am on - the women are often looking for penpals for their homeschooled kids.....?

I guess you get busy, and then no one else wants to take over.

Anyhow, I'll give it a shot. I'd love for there to be a big database for Christian kids to safely make friends in that way.

If anyone is interested in helping me get it going and gathering interested people, I have a web address, but I just remembered that it's likely against rules to post the link. So email me, I'd sure love to hear from you. :D

I know my kids like having their penpals...the problem is getting them to actually write! It usually is only every other month or so that they correspond. But what is funny is my dd talks about her penpal frequently, like she talks to her often????? She loves the idea of having a "friend" in a place she has never to before!

Well mine love to write but I think my boys write too messy for people to read. I try to make them slow down and write neater but sometimes.

I found someone on here for Phillip. They do a WONDERFUL job writing him, but its twins. And Phillip balks about writing TWO letters. So I thought maybe I'd stagger them, write one one week, and the other the next week. But he still gets two letters at the same time. We owe them now. Like I say, WE'RE the ones falling down, NOT them! I don't remember whose kids they are (Sorry if you're reading this! He'll write back soon...PROMISE!!!) He also met a little boy on vacation with my parents that he got an e-mail from, and there's a little girl that went to our church who moved to North Carolina. He wants to send her e-mail, too.
