Someone from another website asked a question that I thought someone here might be able to better answer (then I can relay the answer to the person who is originally asking...).

Anyway, this person has a daughter entering grade 12 who wants to go on to College. She wants to know what to do about a diploma or GED to allow her daughter to move on?

I can't answer that one for two reasons: 1) I live in Canada and laws are different here and 2) My son is only going into grade 4 in the fall so I really don't know.

I have heard that when colleges are looking at prospective students, they tend to look closer (or in favor - for lack of a better word) at the home schooled 'child' because the 'child' is educated one on one and tends to be better educated (I don't mean to step on toes or insult anyone here). Is this true? Does anyone know what the procedure is so I can pass on the information to this gal?

Some friends of ours are currently going through this. Their daughter graduated this May. Anyway, they researched and put together a high school transcript, she got a diploma from her homeschool (which is officially registered) and she took the SAT. Our friends found valuable information at HSLDA's website, which had a list of colleges in the US which accept homeschoolers (only two were listed as "don't accept"). This is a link to that page:

Hope this helps!
