This is truely off topic, haha

First, how old is to old to be carrying your child? My child is 1 1/2 and I was looking for a sling that goes over the shoulder and she could sit in it. Very simple, kinda like just material draped over your shoulder. Anyone know of one or where to get it? She likes to be held and the carts at the store rip at her legs, they are usually metal when we go shopping.

Thanks!

I requested one of these as a baby gift for my first child and loved it! I especially used it when they were infants at Sams Club stores and places where I really wanted them to sleep. They can be used with older children as a sling for them to sit in. As for the age - Hold Her- you like it, she likes it - so as long as she doesn't break your back enjoy holding her. My youngest if 4 1/2 and I still pick her up to get her on my level to talk sometimes. The sling is called the Over the Shoulder Baby Holder. Mine was $40.00 which is why I put it on my baby shower list! But - you can find them on Ebay. I just checked and there are lots to choose from. You could also use it just to drape on the cart at the grocery store so she doesn't hurt herself or suck on the bar if you need to put her down awhile.
Hope this helps! Sabrina

:D I carried my little one(s) around in a sling well into their third year! They are wonderful and so much easier on your back. There are a few companies that make them. Target sells the Nojo, I think Walmart carries one and La Leche League can point you in the right direction locally if you can't find one. Most big baby departments have a sling of some sort. There are even patterns to make your own if you are handy with a sewing machinge. :)
Good luck. Tammy :D

I do too. Have you looked into a Mei Tai? They are the most comfortable carriers I have. Here are some links to some. You can also purchase them off ebay. There are several makers.

LOVE my mai teis. I had never had one until the twins and I had to get creative about the baby wearing thing. I used to wear one on my front and one on my back. They are seriously the most comfortable carrier in the world. (I also wore them both on front when they were really little. . .or both on the sides kind of.)

I don't use a sling ;) but my 10yo dd, who is my "baby" still loves for me to carry her around the house, and I love carrying her! It's hard when she's tired and wants me to carry her upstairs, but I use it as my weight-bearing exercise for the day! :) I loved being carried when I was little too. I still remember when I was about 6 or 7, I was asking my dad to carry me out of church, cuz I was tired. He told me, "You're too big for that now" and never carried me around again! I was so sad about that! So now, with my dd, I figure they grow up so fast, so carrying her around awhile longer will be special, as opposed to a problem!!! :D

I love wearing my baby. She's the best accessory ever!!!I had a Posh Papoose for a long time but it got water damaged/mildewed. I have another one very similar now. DD is 27 months old and there are no signs of losing the sling anytime soon.

That's my only regret about having twins. (If I could say it that way.) I definitely cannot wear my girls as much but they walk so that's okay with me too. With the others the stroller was a foreign concept but with the girls, it's a must. Their sling riding days are long gone!

I originally bought a wrap for Aiden, and he hated it. I also bought a sling. Hated that too. We returned them and finally got him a plain ole Snuggli and he llikes that. Wheeeew! I also got a hip hammock that he seems to enjoy but he needs to grow just a tad yet for it.

Make your own baby 'bum' wipe solutions:

Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle and use with flannel wipes or papertowels.

You can use an empty commercial wipes container. Place the flannel wipes in the container, then then add the solution. Use just enough solution to moisten. Extra solution can generally be kept refrigerated.
or
Cut a roll of paper towels in half. Remove the cardboard tube, place in container and add solution.

Recipes:
1.
1/2 cup baby oil
1/2 cup baby wash
2 cups water

2.
2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons baby wash
1 1/2 cups water

3.
1/8 cup baby wash
8 drops lavender oil
4 drops tea tree oil
2 cups water

4.
1/8 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon baby shampoo
4 drops tea tree oil
8 drops lavender oil
3 cups water

5.
Lanolin and glycerine moisturize without oil.
1 tablespoon liquid glycerine
1/4 teaspoon liquid lanolin (100% pure)
1 tablespoon baby wash
1-3 drops EO
4 cups water

6.
1 tablespoon baby oil
1 tablespoon baby soap
1 tablespoon baby lotion
1 cup water

7.
1/4 cup olive oil (extra virgin not necessary)
1/8 cup gentle baby bath
A few drops tea tree oil
4 cups water

8.
1-2 drops tea tree oil
1-2 drops lavender oil
1 cup water

9.
2 cups water
2 tsp. baby shampoo
1/4 cup aloe vera gel
1 tbsp. calendula oil
5 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops tea tree essential oil

I normally used a half roll of paper towel and had a box of pre cut squares beside it, with no solution. This was so much more economical than purchasing wipes at the store.

For our wipes I used a disposable container filled with baby washcloths rolled up. To that I added:
1 cup water
16 squirts (from a spray bottle, lol) aloe
A few drops of Tea Tree Oil
Splash of vinegar

Mix these things together and pour evenly on top of washcloths.

Now that we are officially potty trained (WOO HOO) those days are over. I'm getting ready to sell my whole cloth stash

Thanks for the extra recipe! Yikes!! Getting rid of them! I don't believe I could ever to that. I am hoping to do/make something out of them. They are all so thicksoftcushyandwonderful! :) Maybe you can some one as a momento, or for the kids to play with; they make great diapers for baby dolls or blankets.
