Hi!

I just found this site and I'm excited to read all your threads.

My name is Jenna. I have been married for 9 years and have a 3-year-old son and a baby on the way in August. I'm considering homeschooling my son. I feel very strongly about it but DH isn't on board yet. Thankfully we still have some time to reach an agreement. :)

Looking forward to chatting with all of you and learning from you at the same time!

Welcome, Jenna! Guys tend to be a little dense when it comes to HS'ing. Many start off with a "Sure, Dear, whatever you want. It's YOUR thing..." attitude. But after a while, they catch on, LOL! I'm Jackie from Central Ohio.

Hi, Jenna! I'm in Texas, too. We're going to start homeschooling our 4 yr old daughter next year and I'm very excited. I'll be praying that your husband starts warming to the idea quickly. :)

Welcome Jenna! You will find a lot of dh's are hesitant at first. See if he will allow it for just one year to see how it goes. That was how I started. Now my dh who was against it, is the one pushing me to buy curriculums and check out homeschool stuff. He is still a bit hesitant in some areas, but more and more, with each year he is more for it.

We sure have a whole lot of Texans! No wonder this board is so friendly. I have a friend who just moved there and she loves it! She makes me jealous every time she talks about it.

Hey there, Jenna!
I have a three year old DD and 5 year old twin boys.

I can tell you wat convienced my husband...
We began "Homeschooling" before the boys were old enough for school. Meaning I would really work with them on their colors, recognizing words, shapes and so on. We worked on things like days of the week, seasons, why things happen and so on.

Pretty soo, nmy husband noticed that other kids, their age, were simply concerned with blues clues, whereas our kids ALSO loved blues clues, but they could also discuss with dad, about other things. It made my DH think the boys were "So smart".

Now, I know they are simply normal children. I also reluctantly handed my children over to the state, when I agreed to let them go to kindergarten. My children had never been baby-sat, never been to a day care center, never been to anywhere I was not. So it was hard on al of us.... After 100 days, my husband was about to take off one teachers head.....

The twins were in different classrooms. The teacher that was more old fashioned and made the children "Do their work" was Zacks. Zack could read better... COnnor, not so well... His teacher was the "New Fangled Type". The school would not let us put COnnor in Zacks class, so that amoung others things is why we pulled them out.

Moral of the story; Get your husband involved, let him see the differences and make him think some of the details are HIS ideas. When he can "Own" some of the ideas, he will be more involved.
