Here's just a general article about the increase in HSing:http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060302/us_nm/life_homeschool_dc

Just curious about the last paragraph, though. I can't tell if it's meant to be light-hearted or slightly derogatory. What do you ladies think?

"Back in science class, the children were satisfied that heavy and light objects both fall to earth at the same speed, just as Galileo observed, even if neither they nor their mothers seemed to know why. And then it was time for lunch."

It sounded like ridicule to me.

I read the entire article. The rest of the article seems to be the facts, straight and simple, without any comments for or against. I think this last bit is simply the writer's bias coming through.

I have to agree with Jackie.

many things the artical said were parents opinions.
and mainly just facts. i think the writer couldnt keep it to himself, so he stated his opinion too. lol "Even the cliche that the majority of home-schooled children are evangelical Christians is outdated, if it was ever true." ---

and also, just out of curiousity, do any fathers post on here?
im only noticing moms! =) not saying thats bad..

Every now and then you will get a dad, but they usually don't stay around very long. I think it's more the feel uneasy around the comraderie we have here...rather an informal, friendship sort of thing that is definately feminine, lol! Usually it's a dad whose wife is interested in HS'ing, and he wants to checking it out to see if he agrees with her or not. Usually, they find out exactly what they want to go and then move on.
