Just when I thought she wouldn't be affected....
Jeannie is suffering from a sinus infection. The drip at the back of her throat makes her cough so bad. She's on two different prescriptions, so hopefully it'll pass quickly.
Please keep her in prayer.
I'll be glad when all the medical issues pass.

does she know how to blow her nose yet? I never thought it would be such a task to teach the kids that, but its been hard for my kids to grasp that concept, making things worse.
We have been using something called Delsym caugh supressant, I don't know if you want to add a medicine, or if it would go against the other ones you are giving her but it seams to be working well for the kids.
How is kevin doing?

Well, Kevin has a sore throat, too, so he's afraid they'll cancel his surgery next Tuesday. The poor kid, his surgery isn't until 2:30PM., but he can't have anything after 12 the night before.
Jeannie needs to drink more, but she won't. I'm even letting her have Diet Pepsi when ever she asks, just so she'll get liquids.
Dean's leg is doing really fine. The doctor is a trip, though- you wait up to 3 hours to see her!
These issues are a lot of stress. Can you spell 'oppression'??

I actually took her back to the doctor today because her cough was a little worse. The only thing that gives her real relief is Zyrtec. The doctor ordered a chest xray, and thankfully tbne place is open a few hours on Saturday.

Poor thing! Hope she is feeling better soon. Maybe Kevin just has a cold. I had a little fever before my last surgery and they went ahead with it anyway. Hopefully he will be better by then and it won't matter.

So, how's Jeannie doing now? We're praying for you and your family Becky! Wow, what a time you're having! Take care, at least as much as you can, my friend!

I'm also getting ticked at the medicine prices! Her Zyrtec is 33.00 because there's no generic and her Zithromax was 40. A third medicine we were prescribed today did nothig to help her cough. Had I known there was no generic equivalent I'd have been more prepared for the shock at the register!
The Zyrtec gives her the most relief, so I'd get it even if it were a thousand dollars. I feel so sorry for her as she suffers.

Becky, I hope Jeannie is better today. The poor baby. Hay girl you need to take care of your self or you will be next. Here's a big hug from Texas to you. You might want to call Kevin's doctor and let them know that his sister is not feeling good and he is having a sore thoart they might put him on something so he doesn't get worst by Tuesday. Just a thought.

Becky, Is Zyrtec for alergies?
becky
02-18-2006, 09:47 AM
Yep, Zyrtec is for allergies, plus it makes her sleep.

Zyrtec makes me sleepy (especially liquid) but it never fazed Avery. She took it in the a.m. and went all do with no problems. I get so drowsy when I take it in the morning.

Jeanne had her chest xray today and they were able to rule out pneumonia. I never even thought of that. Her cough is more quiet today, so maybe the antibiotic is doing its job. I mostly believe God is finally healing her. I found her some Cepacol cough drops for post nasal drip and they really give her relief. I also picked up Delsym cough syrup ABall mentioned. These, along with her Zyrtec, should help her alot.

Well, Phillip's come down with it now! He was dragging yesterday, and his temp made it to 104 today. Faythe came home from church with a headache, and her temp got to about 100. Fortunately, Carl's off tomorrow (because they had to stay until after 9:00 on Thursday for conferences) so I won't have to take all three kids to the doctor if Phillip still has a temp.

I wish you all would stop spreading your germs, lol. Now both of my kids are sick too. Right now we have sore throats and stuffy noses. We, of course, were planning on going out of town with dd tomorrow for our "winter break". Don't guess we'll be going now and I'll be stuck home alone again taking care of my two sick babies! Hope all the little kiddos get better soon!!!

Being out in fresh air might help, though. If Jeanne has a stubborn cold and it's not bitter outside I'll get her dad to run her to the park to air out. It seems to hurry the process along.
Isn't that what grandmas did back in the day??

I didn't know they did that? My mom and MIL both think that they should stay in bed and rest.
Preston is driving me crazy crying about his nose and throat. He gets so miserable with colds. He is not good about taking meds or blowing his nose.
This is going to be a fun week.

I've been giving Phillip Children's Motrin. He woke up cool this morning, and told me he was "better", but is now beginning to start moping around. Faythe is coughing more than anything.

I just called one of Jeannie's teachers and said she wouldn't be there until next week. The teacher said she has heard of a lot of this kind of stuff going around, especially sinus related stuff.

Becky, how is Jeannie feeling now (and how about you)?

02-20-2006, 09:01 PM
Well, she's still coughing, but not as bad. I will see how she is tomorrow evening and get her back in with the doctor. I might do that anyway, just to be sure it's all clearing up and not just quieting down for a flareup later.
As for me.. I'll relax when the medical issues are all over and done with. This one after another stuff is for the birds. I wouldn't wish this stuff on a bird!

Deena, I don't blame you I want to leave too. It's scarey I don't want it. Even though today I have been having a headache. Just old age is what I blame my on. LOL
Anyway Becky, isn't it the day for Kevin to have surgery? Will be thinking of him today and saying a little prayer for you all. Hope everyone starts feeling better soon.

We're mostly healed here now. I finally took Phillip and Faythe into the doctor yesterday. I wouldn't have taken Faythe, but since I was Phillip, I decided to take them both. He gave me a prescription for cough medicine with codeine for Faythe, told me I didn't have to fill it unless I felt it was necessary, and also told me how much I would give to Phillip if I felt it was needed. Then he gave them both Tylenol, and sent them home, saying that if the fever wasn't gone by Thursday, to give him a call. Would you believe they were both better that night? If I had just waited one more day, I would have saved $30! Well, the important thing is they're both doing better!

Jackie....glad the kids are doing better. It's funny you said if you had just waited one more day....I always took my kids too EARLY to the doctor. They had really just come down with the bug and it hadn't climaxed. Then, I would have to take them back again and they would end up with antibiotics.
We're still sick here, but I am hoping that it's just a short-lived virus. We start back to our homeschool classes next week...we have to be WELL!

Jackie, I am glad your kids are feeling better, its getting better for us here, (now my mom and uncle have it--they both work in her store) When my husband was the first in our family to get it, he came home saying he was sick,,,,,,,,,,,, I thought yeah right, (man sickness) but then every one else got it.

Jeanne was back at the doctor today for another round of stronger antibiotics. She's still got a sinus infection with a drip. So, we'll see how it goes this time.
