Please tell me I'm not the only one to forget stupid things I learned a million years ago!
I get so disgusted with myself when we're doing school and I can't recall a simple thing I learned back in the day.

No you are not alone! The one great thing I've discovered about homeschooling is that I'm learning as much as the kids! (and I'm enjoying it more than when I was a kid!)
For example...I hated history in school. But after teaching it to my kids, and reading all the great material out there...I'm a huge history buff now!
The SAD thing is how much math I've forgotten. I'm having to learn it ALL over again.

YOu re really not alone, I have fogotten teachign things to my first child untill I go through old papers to clean and find out "I DID TOO TEACH YOU THAT!" lol!
There is so much to learn, the formulas etc, that our brains which can really hold so much information as much as we like to think our memory is morerams than that, lol!
Unfortunatley we dont have upgrades! hA!

You're not alone! I felt like an idiot the other day when I had to look up the definition of congruent.

That is because how things were taught were only to get us through the next test. We were not taught for lifetime memory, just to keep us busy at the time and graduated eventually.
I am actually looking forward to teaching grammer/puncuation..........anyone who reads my posts can see that I way over punctuate. I just can't seem to remember when I should use commas and such. Oh and I know my spelling is atrocious as well as my vocabulary shrinking down just about nothing............
No wonder people worry about me homeschooling! LOL! :)

Nope, you are not alone. We can't remember everything...no one does not even the teachers in school. THat's why the good Lord invented teacher manuals and the internet. (and you thought Gore invented the internet..LOL...now you know I know he didn't right...just a joke..lol)

Ava, I disagree about the teachers not remembering. The ones who teach the same thing year after year have the luxury of doing just that, so they are very familiar with what they have to teach. They have the luxury of knowing what's comig up next and all that, so they can be prepared. Does that make sense?
I think that's a large part of my problem, and anyone who has to get used to a new grade every year- I have too much to get into my head at once. I think the difference between me as a third grade teacher and a third grade school teacher is that she has done third grade curriculum year after year, so it's ingrained. Me, once I'm used to everything, it's time for a new grade!

I think it's more we don't use all the info we learned everyday. Like, I might pry off the lid to a paint can with a screwdriver, but do I honestly stand there and think 'lever', 'fulcrum', and 'force'?? Lol- no!
