I went to the "planning meeting" for the homeschool group around here, and had a BLAST!! I had absolutely no idea there were so many homeschoolers around here! There were about 50 at the meeting and they rattled off almost as many who couldn't make it.

We planned P.E. days every other Friday and an educational field trip each month (a different mom organizes each one). We're having a craft day in November for the kids to make centerpieces for our group Thanksgiving Dinner the week before Thanksgiving. We're also having the kids make ornaments in December to hand out when we carol the nursing homes before Christmas.

I think this will be a great encouragement for us as we start this first year of homeschool!

There are a fair amount of homeschoolers in my group here, but they are not extrememly interested in planning and volunteering to help. Our church has a smaller group (probably 10 families) and they are very active together. This year the smaller group will be focusing on drama and all aspects of play production. We can't wait to start!

our group also organizes a clothing exchange day, pot luck, and ethnic fair, games day (every one brings a board game to share) we have park days on tuesdays (our PE class is on the same day same park, just earlier) we do show and tell and book reading for the kids at park day for those who are interested. We do a valentines exchange, where all the kids decorate a container (shoe box) and every one puts them on a string or rope laid out in a simi circle on the ground and 1/2 the kids go up the circle and the other 1/2 go the other way on the circle the only thing was it was underestamated the # of kids that would participate and some of the kids ran short. We have a news letter, and a website for our home school group. I hate to say I am not as active with the stuff as I would like to be. We also have one day a month for a moms night out and one night a month for a men's coffee night, there are mother and daughter outings(lunch out, shopping movies etc..) and father son outings (rock climbing, bowling etc..) This month for a field trip some of the families are going to a glass blowing place to make christmas ornaments, it is a pretty expensive thing, when you have 4 kids, so we can't go, but they are always organizng different outings.
