Introducing myself

Hi! I'm new to this forum. I've visited a few times and I really like what I see. I live in Tucson, AZ. This is our second year of HS. So far we are both enjoying it. My son will be 5 next month. Last year he was in K4 and this year Kindergarten. We are using the ABEKA program and love it. My husband and I decided to homeschool years ago when we were youth leaders at our church. We just noticed a big difference between the HS and the PS kids. Although there are exceptions to the rule of course. At first I was nervous about it because I wasn't sure of my abilities as a teacher. But when I saw the ABEKA curriculum and how easy it is plus lots of prayer my confidence level went up.

My parents and in laws supports our decision and are very excited that we are doing it. But I get alot of negative comments from family that have school age children. They are always asking if I really am going to homeschool till he is through with high school. And my answer is always Lord willing that is our plan. His cousins just can't get over the fact that he goes to school at home. I was hoping to join a homeschool support group but cannot locate one here in Tucson. I found several websites and email addresses but noone responds to my emails. So I'm glad I found this forum. Everyone needs alittle support now and then.

Welcome chee! I have found this forum to be very therapeutic (sp?) and all the ladies here are so wonderfully excepting of everyones different opinions. I only have 1 boy who is 3, but I also run an in-home preschool out of my home, so I actually have 5 little 3-year-olds to school every day. Hope you stick around and chat for awhile. We love getting new people:).

Hi! So many new people!!! It almost makes me feel like an old pro :lol:. We are nearing our third homeschooling year (we have a half year in the middle of public school). I have a 9yo son and 6yo daughter. We use a variety of different publishers and are so happy we have the ability to do it that way to meet everyone's needs.

I homeschool my 7yo son, who is in second grade this year. We also decided to HS years before we had children. In fact, I decided to HS my children (if God gave me a husband and children) long before I got married! We use Bob Jones University Press and this is the beginning of our third year homeschooling.

No I am not in any groups right now. I tried to locate one but I am having a hard time. I tried to email some groups that I found websites on but noone has returned my emails. Are you in one? And what side of town are you in? I live in Rita Ranch.
