Okay, don't throw tomatoes at me, but are we only hearing part of the tape? I agree that what she said was NOT okay, but it seems like it was edited. What did the boy say?

I tend to agree Cheryl - I wonder what the whole story is. I'm not excusing the teacher at all, because those are awful things to say to a child, but I wonder what the situation was. I'm just so tired of all the "teacher abuse" stories... sigh...

Here are a couple more links from the local media. Again, I do not think what she said or did was in any way okay, but there is a bit more to the story than GMA showed I think.

Hmmm so is this Kinder teachers gone wild week good grief.

It should be investigated more, I agree they should have heard her side of the story. It was not a situation where it was he said she said, it was caught on tape with her voice. This is verbal abuse.

Not sure what more she could add to defend herself she already admits she had a bad day, but according to the kid it was happening a lot that he was withdrawn and didnt want to go to school for weeks now. What did the teacher say something about 140 something days he was being bad? Apparently she was keeping track.

He was being a typical 5yr rolling around being disruptive sure, but he didnt deserve that. Even if there was more to the story what more could justify being called Stupid, pathetic, ignorant to a 5yr old boy? If he was so bad like she said then he needed to go to the principals office and the parents brought into it.

What are the odds that the parents caught her on tape on her only bad hair day?

I think teachers needs to take some angry management classes/therapy if they want to continue to teach after something like this....apparently this one teacher was burned out, letting her go off to another school hardly solves the problem.

However it seems they all made their decisions already-- The parents are moving their kid to another school, the teachers association is defending the teacher and the teacher is moving out of state.

Just another reason why we homeschool

The Teacher doesn't even seem to feel any remorse, how sad.

This is what happened to DS#2 and the reason we started homeschooling. His K teacher had him in tears everyday. He wouldnt sleep, eat, started sucking his thumb ect. He can running out to me crying everyday and when I would talk to her about it she said he was bad, ect. I pulled him out that week.

I have to say I'd be waiting for the teacher in the parking lot after school if I ever heard one speak to my child that way. I'd be in jail if one did.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to your son as well. :( My son's K teacher scolded him for the strangest things (for coloring people in his drawings blue, not telling a kid to move out of his spot, not sounding out ocean (oshun?) out loud to spell it). I witnessed these as I was in the classroom volunteering. My son was humiliated in front of the class a few times. He didn't know what to do except cry, so some of the kids would pick on him and call him crybaby. I had to have him attend social skills class to learn to be more assertive. The school staff also wanted him to be tested and labeled with some sort of disorder already in kindergarten. I should have known this particular teacher was not a good match for my son when on the very first day of school the teacher yelled at me. My son would come home from school saying his teacher yells a lot and the kids are mean to him. He would also act it out in his room when he was having his alone time. Of course, I thought that he might be exaggerating a bit, because he can be quiet creative, but maybe he wasn't. He used to come home from school aggressive and in the morning before school he would beg not to go (complained of stomaches/headaches). I am so glad we are homeschooling this year and so is my son!
BTW...a neighbor boy is in this particular teacher's class this year. I asked him how he liked kindergarten and how he enjoyed his teacher. He right away told me that it's going ok, but his teacher yells a lot.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful of teachers. There are a ton of great teachers out there (my parents). My son just happened to get a teacher that was extremely stressed out and did not work with my son's personality well.

I definitely would have been waiting for her in the parking lot...
I don't care if he was being totally out of hand, she should have never talked to him like that. If he was being that bad they should have been taking steps to rectify it, not just leaving him in there to go through all of that. And just imagine what it may have taught the other kids that witnessed all of this.

For real! She is the teacher and adult for crying out loud! I'm so sick of people downing homeschooling when there are so many many crappy teachers that do stuff like this.
